iFanboy - Comic Books
iFanboy
The iFanboy.com Comic Book Podcast is a weekly talk show all about the best new current comic book releases. Lifelong friends, Conor Kilpatrick and Josh Flanagan talk about what they loved and (sometimes) hated in the current weekly books, from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, BOOM! Studios, IDW, Aftershock, Valiant, and more. The aim is to have a fun time, some laughs, but to also really understand what makes comic books work and what doesn’t, and trying to understand the craft of this great, often under appreciated art form. Sometimes they agree, and sometimes… they don’t. With decades of experience talking about comics, interacting with comic book professionals, this is all about the love of an art form. If the names Brian Michael Bendis, Amanda Conner, Geoff Johns, Gene Luen Yang, Donny Cates, Jason Aaron, Kelly Thompson, David Marquez, Kelly Sue de Connick, Kieron Gillen, Charles Soule, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Scott Snyder, Tom King, Mitch Gerads, Esad Ribic, Rick Remender, Nick Spencer, John Ridley, Skottie Young, Chip Zdarsky, Jöelle Jones, David F. Walker, Grant Morrison, and Darwyn Cooke get you excited, then this is the place for you. This podcast is so good, you don’t even need to read comic books or graphic novels to enjoy it, but it’s a lot better if you do.

Pick of the Week #725 - Five Years #9
It's a new epoch for our show! Hopefully it's a short epoch, but here we are. There actually are some new comics out this week, and we talked about all of them. Yes, all of them. We brought our pal, James Viscardi, of comicbook.com, to have some fun, and help us speculate wildly on what the future of comics might hold, and answer some listener questions. You might also notice we went really, really long. Really long. And, oh yeah, there's one more special guest to join us in our new Corner.Running Time: 01:34:49Pick of the Week:00:02:59 - Five Years #9Comics:00:12:23 - Teen Titans GO! In what could be the last regularly formatted show for a while, Josh Flanagan and Conor Kilpatrick invite Ryan Haupt to the party and go long talking about comics, Josh's water softener machine, tiki bar adventures, COVID-19, podcasting, and the future. In the midst of the apocalypse, two jamokes read comics while there are still comics. Will Conor's boundless enthusiasm for Robin save us all? Will the recurring thematic hints at plague destroy us? That we can promise.Running Time: 01:03:06Pick of the Week:00:01:47 - DCeased: Unkillables #2Comics:00:09:33 - Spider-Woman #100:16:41 - Middlewest #1600:19:41 - Robin 80th Anniversary Super Spectacular00:32:36 - Family Tree #500:34:06 - Plunge #200:35:49 - Fantastic Four #2000:38:45 - Die!Die!Die! #8Patron Pick:00:41:25 - X-Ray Robot #1Patron Thanks:00:48:28 - Darrell Humber00:49:24 - Zachary CheesemanAudience Question:00:51:08 - Alexander from NZ wonders if it's just him, or comics are getting sort of lackluster.News:Please consider voting for Bill Sienkiewicz: Revolution, Vol. 1 for Best Collection in the Tripwire Awards!Brought To You By:• iFanboy Patrons - Become one today for as little as $3/month! Pick of the Week #721 - Doctor Doom #6
It's a great week for first issues, and in the face of strong, high end contenders, the Pick of the Week (which is not wrong), is a bit of a left turn. Do we have a strong pro-Kang bias? Absolutely. All that's important is 1) Doom and Kang on a train and 2) Shaner ascendent. Put that in the bank.Running Time: 01:12:33Pick of the Week:00:02:13 - Doctor Doom #6Comics:00:11:39 - Strange Adventures #100:21:00 - Strange Academy #100:26:50 - The Flash #75000:41:04 - Outer Darkness/Chew #100:43:04 - Man-Eaters One Shot00:45:04 - Daredevil #1900:48:06 - Marvel #1Patron Pick:00:50:58 - Billionaire Island #1Patron Thanks:00:57:25 - James Upton00:58:03 - Michael DeLorme00:59:00 - Dave Schweitzer00:59;54 - Seth MacchiAudience Question:01:00:57 - Jason is thinking about Taskmaster's wardrobe.News:Please consider voting for Bill Sienkiewicz: Revolution, Vol. 1 for Best Collection in the Tripwire Awards!Brought To You By• iFanboy Patrons - Become one today for as little as $3/month!
