Megan Fox is a Mennonite who lives in a very busy area in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Lancaster is full of Mennonite and Amish people. She has 3 kids (ages 5,4 & 1). She has a Youtube channel where she has a lot of homemaking content, shares what life is like in Lancaster County and breaks down some of the misconceptions of the Mennonite lifestyle. Chuck Black is a former F-16 fighter pilot and currently is the president and general manager of a chemical injection automation company in the oil and gas industry. He has a degree in electrical and electronic engineering and served eight years in the United States Air Force. Chuck and his wife have six children and nine grandchildren. Chuck first wrote Kingdom’s Edge to inspire his children to read the Bible with renewed zeal. Through his family devotions, he noticed that his children paid much closer attention when a story was told, such as a parable by Jesus. He began to write a parable of the life of Christ set in a medieval time period where swords, castles, and battles were all Biblically symbolic without the use of magic or wizardry. The response from his children was astounding. All of the sword fights and battle scenes are tastefully written so that parents do not have to be concerned. He is here! Woohoo! Wow. Is there anything better? What a miracle. What a pure blessing. Lionel Peter Voetberg was born on Sunday, July 23rd at 5:36 AM. 8lbs 11oz. God is so generous.     Is there a more glorious thing than being a vessel that carries, incubates, delivers, then sustains a person that bears the image of our great Creator and King? I cannot do that. Katie just did that. Mothers do that. That is incredible!  Thankfully our kiddos were sound asleep for the duration of the labor and delivery. Then, as they awoke, one by one, we got to witness unbridled excitement expressed in ways unique to each of their personalities. This has been the most celebratory child because of how much more our kids understand it and how they have been looking forward to it. They were so pumped to welcome this little guy into the family. It has made it really special and fun. We are a home of celebrants. Why does it seem that sometimes the most spiritually mature men/families are reluctant to joining a local church? A question that on the surface seems rather puzzling or maybe as though it was an enigma. This has been the case in our own experience in the families we have been a part of and it seems to be the case in many people that we observe from a distance. We both had similar experiences in our homes growing up. We had fathers that were proactively and very intentionally leading our families in a spiritual manner. They were reading the Bible every day at home. They were studying the Word to understand it and to really be able to defend and articulate their faith. They had a great desire to see their children grow up and walk in the faith. They wanted to equip us with the ability to do that. They also both went through a season of being reluctant to be a consistent part of any local church and opposed to anything formal and official. We were curious what brought this common thread into so many Godly men that we knew of that have been so intentional in leading their homes and families. Today we are going to talk about what we think our father’s journey was like of not having a high value on the local church, to now definitely having a high value of it and being consistent to their church and why, as well as what we’re planning on doing. We have really come to value the local church and home groups the last three years. It has been such a blessing to our spiritual growth and family. Eric Conn has a degree in sports journalism. He attended seminary in Louisville, KY and has worked for over a decade in the firearms and outdoor media industry as a journalist. Today we have a very fun episode for you! I have seven incredible sisters and today I’m here with two of them. These two are currently pregnant with me. Karaline is in her first trimester and Kyla is in her second trimester and I’m wrapping up my third trimester any day now. I thought it would be fun timing, because who knows when this will happen again, and talk about pregnancy, postpartum, big families, having a lot of kids and our vision for family size. Kyla is 27 and lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband Adam. They have two children, ages 3 and 1 1/2 and currently 16 weeks pregnant. They have been married just under 5 years. She is a stay at home mom and also manages and runs Now That I’m A Mother Health. Karaline is 22 and lives in Eagle, Idaho (just outside of Boise) with her husband Austin. They have a 9 month old baby girl and currently 8 weeks pregnant. They have been married almost 2 years. She is a stay at home mom and also has a home based business with Monat. Today on the podcast we are answering a listener question: Are you raising your daughter to become a career woman or a homemaker & wife? We thought that it was an interesting question because we have seen this exact same question asked to multiple different people that we follow online and it’s been interesting to hear their responses.   One gal said specifically that she was not raising her daughter to be either and she could be whatever she wants to be. We thought if you don’t have the target in mind, then you’re going to miss it every time. We do think we should have objective goals for our daughters. Today we will be talking about how to navigate that in the 21st century when there are so many career opportunities and obviously being a wife and mother is a big blessing.  The problem is, is that something or somebody or multiples things/bodies are going to be shaping our daughter’s worldview and shaping them into something. If we’re not proactive in doing that as parents, then again, somebody is. It is of the utmost importance that we take the responsibility seriously as parents in being the prominent voice. We don’t want to be the only voice. We want to find other resources and people that can speak into our children’s lives too.  When it comes to our daughters and equipping them, we want them to grow in capabilities and tactics to be able to add value in any situation that they might find themself in. We also need to speak highly of being a wife and mother to our daughters, just like God does, because the voice against them is so loud. When you look at the narrative in the news, media, songs, all sorts of art and entertainment, education, etc, it has this strong narrative that does not promote being a Godly wife and mother. God thinks and esteems so highly of them. As parents, we need to be extremely vocal in advocating and speaking well of those things and equipping our daughters to thrive in any situation!
