Defending the Faith

Be Strong Men's Conference | Breakout | Zach Mabry What if everyone in your spiritual influence had the same depth of faith in God that you do? No matter the circumstance, God has placed you in a position of leadership. Whether you want to or not, you are leading people towards a relationship with God—or away from Him. Men, we need to be discipling those around us by helping them develop a firm foundation for their faith. In this session, Zach outlines the importance of giving an answer for your faith. We can trust and know that God is the Creator of the world. Be confident in knowing what you believe and why you believe it. Aim to fill yourself with the rational justification of belief to help guard against being drawn away by the world. Resources:1 Peter 3:132 Corinthians 11:3Galatians 1View full show notes & resources here.Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Look to Jesus, There's Work to Do

Be Strong Men's Conference | Saturday Morning | Brody HollowayIn this session, Brody looked at the life of Hezekiah and examined how we can learn from his successes and failures. The frailty of human kings points us to the truth that no earthly king can do what only the King of Kings can. This doesn’t mean that we don’t work. There is a tension between God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility to work. God’s sovereignty does not enable us to sit back and do nothing. Like the men who have gone before us, we will fail often. But, we have to remain in the fight. We’ve been called to pray, to act, to work, to fight, and to be the strong men God has called us to be. Resources2 Kings 20Ephesians 1:11View full show notes & resources here.Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Obedience and The Life of Saul

Be Strong Men's Conference | Friday Night | Spencer Davis In 1 Samuel 15, we see the Israelites long to be like the nations around them. They began to reject Yahweh as their King and instead ask to live under the security and power of a man. The freedom they wanted was actually slavery. The Israelites assumed that they needed to be governed better, but what they really needed was obedience. In this session, Spencer walks through the importance of biblical obedience. As believers, we can’t pick and choose when we want to obey. It takes action on our part and must flow out of our identity in Christ. Your obedience to God matters in everything you do. Direct your heart to the Lord and serve Him only.Resources1 Samuel 15Hebrews 11 Peter 1View full show notes & resources here.Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. It’s 2020. And everybody’s gonna die.

People have died this year from all sorts of things: diseases, accidents, and natural disasters (to name just a few).  We believe that every human being has innate value as an eternal soul that has been created in the image of God. In fact, the reality that every human being is going to die makes each one of our lives more valuable. We have a very limited amount of time and we need to use it wisely to have the most long-lasting, even eternal significance.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Cuties and Cardi B

We need to fight against the hypersexualization of young girls. We need to help our young ladies find their identity in who God created them to be and not as sexual objects. This should come from the continued discipleship of the young people that God has placed in our lives. It is our job to help this generation of elementary school students (boys and girls) know who they are and what God has created them to be.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. There are Wolves Among the Sheep

Session 3 | Iron on Iron Student Ministry Conference Online | Spencer DavisJude warns us of false teachers, wolves, that will come into the Church and attempt to deceive and draw away disciples. Jude’s warning should equip and encourage us to fight against wolves, and remind us to hold fast to the right doctrine and not become wolves ourselves. We must take courage because these wolves are in our churches today. There are doctrines being perverted, sexual immorality indulged, dreams being followed, flesh being defiled, and authority being rejected within our walls. So stand strong, hold fast to the Word, and contend for the faith!ResourcesJude 5-16Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. Showing Your Work & Teaching to Fish

Breakout | Iron on Iron Student Ministry Conference Online | Zach MabryThe central point of student ministry when we gather together is the handling of God’s Word. The two pictures of “showing your work” and “teaching to fish” should guide how we present the Bible to students. The goal in all of this is that we, as teachers of the Word, become dependent on the Word and lead our students in how to depend on God’s Word themselves.ResourcesThe New American Commentary (Jude) – Thomas Schreiner40 Questions About Interpreting the Bible – Robert PlummerExegetical Fallacies – D.A. Engaging Your Community with the Gospel

Breakout | Iron on Iron Student Ministry Conference Online | Hank Parker Jr. As ministers of the Gospel of Christ, we have a responsibility to engage our communities with that Gospel. We should take the Gospel out from the times we gather together corporately as believers, and we should equip the students and parents entrusted to us to do the same. Youth Pastors are called to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. We should be comfortable with the fact that means more than just our students but also their parents and the communities they are from.Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. The Importance of Teaching Doctrine in Student Ministry

Breakout | Iron on Iron  Student Ministry Conference Online | Rob ContiThere is an extreme lack of doctrinal knowledge in the American Church today. If we are to faithfully shepherd our students, we must be unafraid to dive into these deeper things of God with our students. Building a foundation of solid doctrine will prepare students to faithfully follow God and confront false teaching in the world around them. Right behavior in the Church, for the Christian, flows out of right belief or right doctrine.Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S. A Good Shepherd Keeps His Sheep

Session 4 | Iron on Iron Student Ministry Conference Online | Rob Conti As we shepherd our students, we will encounter scoffers, worldly people, and those that seek to divide the Church. To combat this, we must keep in the love of God. We do this by laboring over the Word of God, praying in the Spirit, and teaching sound doctrine. We are contending for eternal souls and must take our task seriously. A youth pastor is not an activity director; he is a shepherd under The Good Shepherd. We must labor in God’s will, on behalf of his sheep whom he loves, in order to stand as a worker approved by God.ResourcesJude 17-25Learn more about our student and adult conferences athttps://www.swoutfitters.com/P.S.
