While there are consequences to our sins, the condemnation and judgment is removed from those in Christ. We can be set free from our sins because of Christ’s work on the cross. The Gospel provides the only perfect salvation of deliverance. In Genesis 50, we see the death of Jacob and the reconciliation between Joseph and his brothers. Despite what his brothers did to him, Joseph comforted them and spoke kindly to them. God is sovereign even when bad things happen. In that moment we see a powerful moment of redemption. God doesn’t hold our sins against us. The Gospel changes us and makes us new creations.God was sovereign in Joseph’s life and is in ours today. SWO23 | Rob Conti | Thursday MorningSuffering precedes glory. Because of Joseph’s faithfulness, he’s made governor of Egypt. This role allows him to save his brothers and father during the famine. Despite their evil towards him, Joseph forgave them for what they’d done to him. The Lord was with Joseph, and God uses him to point us to Christ. Jesus’s suffering was so much greater than Joseph’s. He suffered greater than anyone so he could offer salvation to everyone.Believer, don’t hold onto your sin at the cost of missing salvation. Look to Joseph’s life as an example of suffering well and forgiving like Christ suffered and forgives us. But even in prison, Joseph was faithful. Because of his faithfulness, he was placed over the other prisoners and begins interpreting dreams. Joseph had good character and is an example of biblical masculinity to us.Believers, live your life according to the Truth. The longer you live in faithfulness and consistency, the greater the impact you’ll have on the people around you. Be faithful to the Lord today. This temptation came to Joseph repeatedly but he remained faithful. Joseph was able to be faithful in the midst of slavery and temptation because the Lord was with him.Your faithfulness matters. God is with you just like he was with Joseph. In contrast to Joseph’s faithfulness, we see the wickedness of his brothers. They sell Joseph for 20 pieces of silver. Despite the evil actions of humanity, God still works to bring salvation.God never sins or does evil. He is only good and only just.
