Now blue-state governors are threatening their own redistricting to push back on Republicans trying to gain five more seats in Congress. The 2016 presidential election and what happened after are under scrutiny again, as the Department of Justice opens a grand jury investigation into the Obama-era probe of Russian interference. Back in July, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified intelligence about the investigation into the Trump campaign, arguing that it would expose manipulation and possible treason. It is the third day Texas Democrats have been absent from the state legislature stopping all voting on various bills including a plan to redistrict the state. Republicans say they have legal efforts going on to remove dozens of Democrats from office for being derelict of their duties. Amid growing scrutiny over Gaza’s worsening humanitarian conditions, new aid groups are stepping in as Israel reconsiders its military campaign and hostage strategy. Texas Democrats who skipped town to stop redistricting efforts are now facing arrest after House Speaker Dustin Burrows signed off on civil arrest warrants, citing a “dereliction of duty”. Many of the Democrats that fled the state went to Chicago where Illinois Governor JB Pritzker rolled out the red carpet for them. Now, other Democrat Governors, Gov. Gavin Newsom in California and Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York are now vowing to conduct their own redistricting votes to combat the possible gains by Republicans in Congress. The investigator is now being investigated. Dozens of Texas House Democrats have fled the state in an attempt to avoid or prevent a vote in the state legislature that would push forward a GOP redistricting effort. Redrawing the congressional maps in Texas is a President Trump-led effort to net Republicans up to five new US House seats in next year’s midterm elections. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has threatened to arrest and expel the House Democrats if they do not return by today.
