No Lean Fluff, Applied Industrial Engineering with Dr. Shahrukh Irani

⚠️ Warning ⚠️ This episode is not for the easily offended Lean practitioner. Dr. Shahrukh Irani is an experienced industrial engineer specializing in high-mix, low-volume Lean implementations. Shahrukh has studied Lean and is a practicing industrial engineer, author, and teacher. In his own words about his book, “WARNING! This book [Job Shop Lean] is written by an Industrial Engineer who never worked at Toyota. But that did not deter me! I figured out that whatever the general public knows about the Toyota Production System aka LEAN is IE [Industrial Engineering] that Toyota used in the 1900s. And IE in the 1900s was not enabled by Operations Research, Data Science and a horde of software tools.” His favorite place to be is where people implement Job Shop Lean in various manufacturing facilities like forge or machine shops, fabrication facilities, and shipping departments. He has applied lean problem-solving to product family formation, work cell design, production scheduling, and proven techniques to drive continuous improvement.   Show Links: The EBFC Show Blog Top 3 Schedule Problems https://www.theebfcshow.com/blog/top-3-schedule-problems/      Connect with Shahrukh via LinkedIn at  https://www.linkedin.com/in/shahrukh-irani-8b25a55/  Website at https://www.leanandflexible.com/  Shahrukh’s Book Link: https://www.leanandflexible.com/book/    Connect with Felipe via Social media and Free Lean and Scrum Training Resources at https://thefelipe.bio.link  RSM Podia Course Link: https://store.theebfcshow.com/rsm Subscribe on YouTube to never miss new videos here: https://rb.gy/q5vaht    --- Today’s episode is sponsored by Bosch RefinemySite. Does Lean Construction Training Lead to Learning with Rebecca Snelling & Dan Fauchier

Be cautious of what you choose to learn. Some ideas take deep roots. Rebecca (Martin) Snelling and Dan Fauchier learned about Lean Construction, and it transformed their lives, work, and friendship on a billion-dollar project. Today they each coach people, organizations, and leaders to transform design and construction. When making a change, be aware that people may actively work against it. Beyond just Lean Construction tools, these two know how to influence projects and company culture. People that find ways to grow themselves separate learners, followers, and leaders.    Referenced Show Links: LCI Roadshow Video https://youtu.be/D3IWu6gX24g  Dan’s First The EBFC Show Interview at https://www.theebfcshow.com/firefighting-vs-lean-construction-dan-fauchier/  Gallup’s Clifton Strengths Finder Book and Test https://amzn.to/3LZbal4  Boldt’s Gatekeeper Program https://www.boldt.com/news/blog-post/trained-volunteer-gatekeepers-offer-peer-to-peer-help/    Show Shoutouts Renee Wolf, Health and Wellness Coach https://www.linkedin.com/in/renee-wolf/  Nick Loughrin https://www.linkedin.com/in/nickloughrin/ Ritu Ahuja https://www.linkedin.com/in/ritu-ahuja/    Connect with Rebecca via   LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/rebeccasnelling/  Website at https://www.rebeccasnelling.com/  Choosing by Advantages (Book) https://www.rebeccasnelling.com/#Book  Email at rebecca@rebeccasnelling.com      Connect with Dan via LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/danzpage/  Twitter at https://twitter.com/danfauchier  Lean Project Delivery (Book) https://amzn.to/3RtvSei   Website trycanow.com or https://constructionacceleratortm.com/  Website https://constructionaccelerator.as.me/ChatwithDan     Connect with Felipe via Social media and Free Lean and Scrum Training Resources at https://thefelipe.bio.link  RSM Podia Course Link: https://store.theebfcshow.com/rsm Subscribe on YouTube to never miss new videos here: https://rb.gy/q5vaht    --- Today’s episode is sponsored by Bosch RefinemySite.
