Business From the Heart with William Wells
“I want to hire as many folks with disabilities as possible. ”I also hope we inspire other small businesses to hire folks with a disability.”
William Wells is the Founder and Head Roster at Artery Roastery based in Ottawa, Ontario. William and the Artery team know what a positive impact can do to a person living with a disability, a farmer defending their land in Guatemala, and a single mother living in Rwanda – and their actions and products give back to these groups every day.
Artery Coffee Roasters know their farmers and producers on a first-name basis. They provide stable and worthwhile employment to people living with disabilities and they know that consumers want to support businesses that give, and don’t just take.

Taboo Topics Make For Viral Products with Rachel Kerr and David Gaylord
David Gaylord is the current Chief Executive Officer at Bushbalm, a skincare and technology brand focused solely on the bikini line. After spending 7+ years at Shopify he took his ecommerce expertise to launch Bushbalm direct-to-consumer where they grew rapidly, launching in Indigo, Whole Foods, Holt Renfrew and more. The brand is now expanding its channel strategy with over 1,000 waxing salons already carrying the product, and will be launching in a major retailer.
Rachel Kerr is the Director of Brand and Sales at Bushbalm Skincare and the company’s first employee. Rachel honed her PR and marketing skills at both Giant Tiger and Hyatt Hotels and since joining Bushbalm overhauled the brand while fostering a community that normalizes common skin irritations that are often ignored by mainstream beauty.

Vel Omazic co-founded Canada’s Music Incubator in 2011 and has been CMI’s executive director ever since. Powerful Mental Health Discoveries with Dr. Daphne Voineskos

Dr. Daphne Voineskos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and is a Clinician Scientist and psychiatrist at the Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention at CAMH. She also is the Medical Lead of the rTMS Clinic at the Poul Hansen Family Depression Centre at UHN. Dr. Voineskos’ scientific impact is advancing and personalizing investigational and therapeutic brain stimulation techniques in treatment-refractory psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Voineskos has recently been named the Labatt Family Professor in Depression Biology at the University of Toronto. Her early international reputation for her research and scientific potential has been recognized locally, by the Department of Psychiatry, provincially by the prestigious John C. Polanyi Prize in Physiology/Medicine, and internationally by the American Psychiatric Association. She is principal investigator or co-investigator on multiple federally and philanthropically funded studies to optimize and personalize brain stimulation delivery and is a committed mentor and supervisor to graduate students and medical trainees. Dr. Voineskos’ research program is focused on the neurobiological mechanisms and abnormalities in depression, with the translational goal of integrating these scientific findings into clinical care
