On today's episode of I AM HOME, in celebration of Women's Month our hosts, Tyler and Hilary, are sitting down with Patty Talbert. Patty is a painter and a muralist who has worked with MacArthur Award Winner Debra Harris and the late great Dawn Scott. Her work is inspired by techniques used in batiking (buh-tee-king), a method, originally used in Java, of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left blank. Her work has been shown in more than three dozen exhibits. Her works spans from bright colors and beautiful patterns to complex portraits and anonymous projects. Today, she is chatting about finding and creating a home in art, learning how to be okay with imperfection, and turning the unique into the universal.
