TVoL: Help One Now-Helping Community Leaders Empower Their Communities

Will Kiley was a high school educator who asked his students if the world was becoming more or less beautiful over time.  When he got the results of his anonymous survey, he was shocked to hear the results.  (You’ll have to listen to hear the answer.) That led him to wonder if others in the world saw it the same way.  He was moved by the pastor of his church who left the ministry at the church to begin a ministry to help communities to utilize the leadership they already had and partner with the organization Help One Now.  The organization began after the pastor, who later became the founder of Help One Now, was on a mission trip to Zimbabwe where he happened upon a group of orphaned youths at a gas station while he and his team were on their way with food for another group of orphans.  They asked for some help, just food and water.  The pastor had a full truck of stuff he knew that the intended children could not do without, but he had to tell these children he had nothing for them.  That broke him and led him to his calling today.     Will, on the other hand, was moving from Austin, TX where he was an educator, to the Raleigh, NC area where his wife was being transferred for work.  He had been supporting Help One Now for a few years after hearing the “too good to be true” story Help One Now had and then found it was true.  Well, when he got to NC he found out the organization’s headquarters was there and met up with his former church leader to find out they needed someone just like Will.  Some call this coincidence.  Will calls it faith played out.  Now Help One Now has a project in the Dominican Republic for the development of a school and a health care facility to have eyecare provided by a local optometrist.  You will want to know how you can help too.  But not just with your money.  Will wants to speak with you personally to see where you fit in and here a “too good to be true” story that really is true. TVoL: It’s Not a Before and After World with Lisa Hisscock

Today on The Vision of Leadership Podcast I welcome my coach, Lisa Hisscock onto the show. Lisa Hisscock is a Certified Health and Fitness Coach, Behavior Change Specialist, and Nutrition Coach.  And she is my Coach.  Lisa and I began working on me over two years ago and the slow methodical approach she has taken with me has gotten me stronger, leaner, and feeling way better than I did two years ago.  That is why I believe in her and what made me want to have her on, but that is not the main thing I want you to take away from this episode.  Lisa shows that coaching is the best way to reach potential you thought was not possible in a shorter time than you could imagine.  She also states in this episode that the picture of health we have as a society is formed by all the “Before and After” pictures on social media and in culture just is not correct for the real world.  She says that the getting to where you think you should be in 21 days is not good for your health and not sustainable.  This leaves those with that false impression of health shattered when the long-term needs are not being met.  She talks about how to set health goals that are relevant to what is really happening in your life and the consequences of jumping in the deep end of fitness.  She says that the picture of fitness is not always the number you see on a scale or the reflection in the mirror.  You will learn a great deal from my friend and Coach, Lisa Hisscock. Below you will find out how to contact Lisa and see the free resources she has on her website.   http://www.morethanabody.com/ https://more-than-a-body.mykajabi.com/website
