In 2014, Heather Mack and her then-boyfriend murdered her mother in Bali, and stuffed her body in a suitcase. She was eventually arrested and convicted in Bali. On August 2, 2015, Judy Malinowski was doused in gasoline and set on fire by her boyfriend Michael Slager. Miraculously, she survived and spent the new two years fighting for new laws to protect victims of abuse.
