Time is broken, narcissism is the consequence. Everybody has a take, infinitely populating the space through hegelian laws. It´s the death of the (time-)commons. Fake tits, fakes horrors, fake experiences prevail against real ones. The image and the story counts. We live in divisive times, because time is divided, there are only bubbles of time we inhabit, we have lost the shared spirit. The distance is more important than the closeness.

A new series of video essays based on my summer reading of the 700-page spiritual classic, entitled Meditations on the Tarot: A Journey into Christian Hermeticism by the anonymous author whom everybody now knows was Valentine Tomberg. This is not a summary of Tomberg’s work per say, but rather my own idiosyncratic reading of the Tarot partly inspired by Tomberg’s work. This series aims to explore Tarot symbolism—and is a contemplation of the meanings of the main archetypes presented in the Tarot card deck.  As a longtime practitioner of Tantric Buddhism, an intensely symbolic and, dare I say, magical path—I’m on a journey to understand the symbolism of western esoteric systems. Tarot and Tomberg’s book seemed like a fun place to start.

We are facing a crisis, while at the same time out institutions do not seem fit or able to solve these problems. At the same time, our myths and narratives don´t work anymore, the postmodern policies of deconstruction have for better or worse - negated our way of reducing complexity. Is the west going to fall, as Oswald Sprengler once put it? Is the chaos going to increase till we find a new way of life? Or is it as it ever was, men struggling to find meaning in a complex world? Can digital provide us with the means to reconstruct the myth and narrative? Daniel Schmachtenberger is a social philosopher and founding member of The Consilience Project, aimed at improving public sensemaking and dialogue. Alexander Bard is a philosopher, author of numerous books (“Digital Libido”) Swedish musician, author, lecturer, artist, songwriter, music producer, TV personality, religious and political activist, and one of the founders of the Syntheist religious movement alongside his co-author Jan Söderqvist. Bard was a member of music band Army of Lovers.

July 12th 2022 Thaddeus Russell is the Founder of Unregistered Academy; host of the Unregistered podcast; and author of A Renegade History of the United States. He taught history and cultural studies at Occidental  College and has taught at Columbia University, Barnard College, Eugene  Lang College, and the New School for Social Research. Born and raised in  Berkeley, California, Russell graduated from Antioch College and  received a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University.Russell has also appeared on the History Channel and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
