Bullet Points | Managing Loneliness.

In this episode, I talk through some tactics that may help, in the short term, if you're feeling lonely. Whether it's because of the lockdown restrictions, the new 'normal' of working from home or because you've just found yourself in a situation where you're alone a lot, and that's uncomfortable or not preferable to you, then these strategies may be helpful.Avoid falling into the comparison trap. In other words, don't measure the value of your life and experience against others, especially if the medium via which you are comparing is a social media platform.Use your social media profiles for good and if that means muting a few people then so be it.Lean into boredom. And I mean really lean into it.Be physical and use exercise as a way of breaking up the day.Get outside and really appreciate the sights, sounds and how it feels to be out in the fresh air. It's proven to reduce blood pressure and help with feelings of depression.Rather than focusing on all the things being alone aren't allowing you do, focus on what being alone does allow you to do. If you're really struggling with loneliness and need support then visit The Samaritans or seek support from a service such as Self Space. To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Hey! Bullet Points | How to Make a Habit

There has been a lot of chat in DMs and on email about habits in the last few weeks, so I thought it’d be a good idea to take a look at the ways in which you can feel out whether a habit is right for you. We’ve all had to adjust this year, with varying degrees of restrictions and lockdowns but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to weave new and helpful habits into our new normal. In this episode I share the six strategies that I think can help you make a habit stick or, perhaps more crucially, how to tell if it’s just not for you, including:Starting small and easing your way into whatever it is you’re trying.Giving yourself a timeframe.Attaching your new habit to something you already do and enjoy doing.Keeping a visual log of your habit as you do them. How a little accountability can help make a habit take root and give you a sense of satisfaction from day one.Figuring out what might get in your way before you begin so you can plot a course around, or through, it.As ever, I’d love to know what you think whether that’s in the comments below, on DM or via email. I make this podcast for YOU and if there’s anything you’d like to hear on this subject, or any other, please feel free to let me know.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Hey!
