TJ Waterfall | How to switch to a plant-based diet.
TJ Waterfall is a sports nutritionist specialising in plant-based nutrition who joins me on the podcast to talk about what a plant-based diet really looks like and what the many benefits are.The scientific evidence shows that a plant-based diet is one of the most effective ways to improve both long-term health and also support fitness goals and recovery. However, if you've heard anything about plant-based diets you've probably heard they are a fuss and nonsense that's more trouble than its worth. TJ joins me to share his experience, first-hand and working with elite sportspeople, of why that isn't the case.In this episode, TJ and I discuss:What the difference is between being vegan and being plant-based.How to discern what information is accurate and what might be marketing blurb. Why a plant-based diet doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on key nutrients. Why cutting meat out of your diet won’t mean you’re missing out on protein - or will struggle to find it elsewhere. The health benefits of eating a plant-based diet; both on cardiovascular health and overall risk of other chronic conditions. Why a plant-based diet can have such a positive effect on how you feel, and much more…TJ's book The Plant-Based Power Plan is available now.To join the closed Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Hey! Bullet Points | Need a good night's sleep?
Bullet Points • Need a good night’s sleep? In this mid-week episode I share some tips for helping you get a better night’s sleep since it’s something, based on the DMs, messages and emails I’ve been receiving, that seems to be bothering a lot of people right now.I can relate, I’ve suffered with insomnia in the past and stress is often the thing that causes the most disruption to my ability to fall asleep, stay sleeping and sleep well.As we’re all under added stress right now it’s no surprise that for a lot of people sleep is becoming harder and harder. In the episode, I share the five strategies that have worked for me and that I recommend to try to get sleep back on track, even with the added stresses and strains:- Make a list of everything that’s on your mind before your head hits the pillow. The act of writing out any worries can compartmentalise them and minimise the stress attached to them.- If you’re working from home and are tempted to have a quick nap when you’d normally run out for your afternoon coffee then, well, don’t.- Create the perfect environment for sleep; a comfortable bed, the right kind of lighting, the right temperature - it all helps.- Create a sleep schedule - and stick to it.- Take a look and what you’re eating and when you’re eating it. A small tweak such as eating dinner an hour earlier could make all the difference when it comes to sleep quality. To find the full, unedited episode simply click the link in my bio or type ‘The Emma Guns Show’ into your preferred podcast platform. As ever, I’d love to know what you think whether that’s in the comments below, on DM or via email. I make this podcast for YOU and if there’s anything you’d like to hear on this subject, or any other, please feel free to let me know.#podcast #selfhelp #loneliness #lonely #health #mentalhealth #wellnessHey!
