The Best Entrepreneurs Overcome Failure | Hack #64

Confidence Hack #64: Steve Jobs’s success cannot be defined without his failures. In 1985, Apple produced two supposedly revolutionary products - the Lisa and the MacIntosh. Sales didn’t scratch the floor of Apple’s expectations for the products. Someone had to go. CEO Steve Jobs was the one headed to the guillotine. Jobs didn’t lick his wounds in a pity party for himself. He used what he knew he had, a skill set to ideate and innovate. He created the company NeXT. Eleven years after its inception, Jobs sold NeXT to none other than, you guessed it, Apple for $429 million. You will never hit 100% of the shots you take. Probably not even 50%, to be completely honest, and that’s okay! Gain confidence today, knowing every successful person you admire has experienced a massive flop. You are the Phoenix. Gain energy and power through the flop and rise again, even higher and greater than before! Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends! How To Turn the Should Into The Want! | Hack #63

Confidence Hack #63: If someone tells you they love their job 100% of the time, they are probably lying. Here’s the truth, its ok not to love your job 100% of the time. But what if you don’t love your job even 10% of the time? That is where today’s confidence hack comes in to play! Here is the point blank truth - you and only you are the one who decides how much joy you squeeze out of the lemon daily. Case and Point: Erik Spoelstra. Started as an intern for the Miami Heat. The lowest of the low. His job was to do whatever anyone asked of him - coffee runs, print papers, cut up game film. And his answer was always the same: ‘No problem, ‘he said with a smile on his face. It’s all in how you perceive your current situation. The confidence boost today comes through knowing that no matter if you despise your job, you can find joy in it! In the example, it is for your kids and knowing that the best is yet to come! Hey! Luka Doncic Loves to Play Wiffle Ball...And There's a Reason! | Hack #62

Confidence Hack #62: Sometimes, all you need is to head to the beach and take a wiffle ball break. ‘Practice, you talking about practice,’ Allen Iverson famously quoted when questioned if he was focused in practice. Practice versus play. What if I were to tell you that you need both to become great? Deliberate practice and deliberate play. Deliberate practice is “practicing with a clear awareness of the specific components of a skill you aim to improve and exactly how to improve them.” Deliberate play, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. Deliberate play releases the intense focus on one detail and spreads the umbrella to cover a new framework. Just ask NBA Superstar Luka Donic. Realizing that his Dallas Mavericks teammates needed a break from the arduous West Coast road trip they were on, Luka called for the team to cancel practice and head to the beaches of Santa Monica to play wiffle ball. And it worked! The Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Lakers on their home floor the following night. The confidence boost is gained today by embracing a rhythm of deliberate practice and deliberate play. You can’t fully maximize one without the other. Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends! It’s the best way to help get this info into the hands of people who want to grow and become the most CONFIDENT LEADERS they can be! Steph Curry Had 13 Turnovers in His First Game... | Hack #61

Confidence Hack #61: He had every opportunity to blame himself and others around him, but he didn’t and became great. 13 turnovers. In one basketball game. In basketball terms, that’s like standing up to give a talk and forgetting all the words you were going to say and falling off stage. Bob McKillop, the head coach for Davidson University, did not bench his freshman point guard in the 2006-2007 season. Instead, he encouraged him and started him again the next game. Steph didn’t blame others for his mistakes. Coach McKillop didn’t blame Steph for the loss. Research has shown that blame culture activates the amygdala, leading to feelings of fear, anxiety, and disengagement. When individuals feel blamed, they are more likely to respond defensively, becoming argumentative or aggressive. Fear, processed in the amygdala, leads to placing blame of a quote on quote ‘incident’ on someone else for fear that it will reflect poorly on the blaming individual. Gain confidence today by taking ownership and not blaming anyone else for your situation. You will only grow stronger when you own your mistakes, and others are less likely to blame you when you disarm their ability to do so. Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends! It’s the best way to help get this info into the hands of people who want to grow and become the most CONFIDENT LEADERS they can be! And please throw us a 5-star review! This is Why Scatter-Focusing Is So Important | Hack #60

Confidence Hack #60: The kinkajous can run just as fast backward as it can forwards, and what that means for our confidence. Get this- the Kinkajous can run as fast forward as they can backward by physically turning the direction of their feet. Why am I telling you this, and what the heck does it have to do with confidence? Let me introduce you to the term scatter-focus. In this state, you let your thoughts roam freely without constraints. No progression in the history of ever was directly linear. Think about it: when was the last time a great idea came to you when you were trying to force that great idea out with a time limit placed upon it? Gain confidence today, knowing that you don’t always have to be progressing. Build in rhythms throughout your day and week where you can take time to scatter-focus. One easy way to do this is to ‘time-bucket’ shorter scatter-focus segments throughout the day, and once per week, take a few hours or an afternoon to let your mind run free. You’ll be amazed at the creative, confident thoughts and ideas you come up with! Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends! There is No Difference Between Doing and Knowing | Hack #59

Confidence Hack #59: The Hebrew word Yada means ‘to do’ and ‘to know.’ No, not Yoda, the little green guy from Star Wars. Yada. In the Hebrew language the word for ‘to know’ and ‘to do’ are the same word. One of the most significant gaps in society and a growing canyon is the difference between knowing and doing. The confidence boost today comes from embracing yada. When you know something, trust that there is a reason you know what to do, and instead of doubting yourself, trust God’s doing power, and all will work out in the end! Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends! It’s the best way to help get this info into the hands of people who want to grow and become the most CONFIDENT LEADERS they can be! Increasing Market Value by 2,799% | Hack #56

Confidence Hack #56: The power of storytelling. I’m going to do you a favor and introduce you to the best ‘storytelling’ teacher I know, David JP Phillips. David JP grew up in rural Sweden and, from a young age, was taught the power of story by his parents. Today, I want to highlight one story that he tells in his Ted Talk, ‘The Magical Science of Storytelling.’ In early 2009, Rob Walker and Joshua Glenn embarked on a journey to prove the power of storytelling. They began their mission by acquiring 100 ‘junk’ objects from garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets, and anywhere they could find. And they were acquired for an average price of just $1.29. They put the 100 objects on eBay along with the story to back the efficacy. By November of that same year, you would not believe the price they received for all of these exact same items! Stories are everywhere - movies, music, books, daily conversations. You, too, can be a confident curator of stories! Hey! If you love this show, share it with family and friends!
