OC117 Matt Kelly - His Story and His Popular Podcast - Our Conscious Contact

Hello my friends..., Thank you for downloading the podcast, I hope you'll leave with new ideas & strategies to help you stay sober, One Day At A Time! Make sure you subscribe to get new conversations about recovery every week. You can also get them delivered right to your email inbox, just sign up for the newsletter a odaatchat.com Before we jump into the episode, I have a question for you: HAVE YOU EVER SABOTAGED YOURSELF AND YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY? THE TRUTH IS THAT SELF-SABOTAGE IS THE RESULT OF LOW SELF-ESTEEM. We only allow into our lives what we feel and believe we deserve. Building self-esteem is a foundational piece of recovery work. When you change your self-esteem, your deep, subconscious beliefs about what you think you deserve, you stop self-sabotage. You can improve your relationships, job, ability to achieve your dreams and goals, financial abundance, the love you attract and your health. If you don't change those beliefs, regardless of how hard you work, you will sabotage your progress in achieving them, either consciously or unconsciously. The Reinvent Self-Esteem class is an online class for women where we do the work together in class. For all the details and to register, visit selfesteemcourse.com Today my guest is Matt Kelly, host of our conscious contact podcast, where he and his guests explore questions like: Is Life itself a Divine Mystery, continuously unfolding? And your humanity - a perfect piece in the Cosmic Puzzle. Could you in fact possess inner power for conscious contact with the Universal Higher Power? "Our Conscious Contact" is a show that explores those questions and more. So that's it from me! Please enjoy this wide-ranging conversation, with Matt!

OC114 Dennis Berry - From Drunk Driving Accidents to Funky Wisdom and Emotional Sobriety

Today my guest is Dennis Berry. He is the best selling author of, "Funky Wisdom, A Practical Guide to Life." As always, before we jump into the interview, I want to share some ideas that help me stay sober. So here are 3 tips to help you stay sober in early recovery. Tip #1 - Create a plan to keep busy in the evening after work. A lot of people start feeling cravings from about 6-10pm so plan ahead. Meet with friends, volunteer, go for walks, pick up a new hobby, or try some yoga or go to the gym. Having some sort of activity in the evening can be a good distraction from cravings. Tip #2 - Feed your brain something positive. There's so much good information available on podcasts, audiobooks, and online courses. Our brains are like biofeedback computers; what you put in, is what you get out, so don't feed it crap. Tip #3 - Start a gratitude journal. There is a ridiculous amount of research, proving that writing down 5 things you are grateful for in the morning, or even before you go to bed, will help reprogram your brain to think more positively. It helps with depression, anxiety and helps you process negative feelings to resolution, instead of stuffing them. So that's it for now. For more tips like these and other stories of recovery, just visit odaatchat.com. So without further adu, Please enjoy this wide ranging conversation, with Dennis!
