WHAT GLENN BECK ISN’T TELLING YOU ABOUT THE LDS CHURCH
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is actively rebranding, moving away from the term “Mormon”
Wretched Radio | Air Date: September 12, 2024
https://media-wretched.org/Radio/Podcast/WR2024-0912.mp3
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is actively rebranding, moving away from the term “Mormon” and seeking to align more closely with mainstream Christianity. Todd Friel highlights the strategic efforts by the LDS to reshape their image, using SEO tactics and prominent figures like Glenn Beck to gain acceptance. However, despite these efforts, significant theological distinctions remain, especially concerning salvation and the nature of God.
Todd also touches on the troubling rise of polyamory in some church circles and the shift in modern worship music, which often centers on personal emotions rather than praising God.

These encounters expose the growing discomfort many Christians feel when asked to defend their faith, prompting a critical question: how confident are we in what we believe, and what is really stopping us from sharing the gospel?

LESSONS FROM A DENOMINATION THAT ALMOST SELF DESTRUCTED
Todd recounts the gripping story of how the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod stood firm against a liberal takeover in the 1970s.
Wretched Radio | Air Date: September 10, 2024
https://media-wretched.org/Radio/Podcast/WR2024-0910.mp3
Todd recounts the gripping story of how the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod stood firm against a liberal takeover in the 1970s. Drawing parallels to the Southern Baptist Convention’s conservative resurgence, Todd explores the pivotal battle for Sola Scriptura within Concordia Seminary, where the faculty and students embraced a more liberal interpretation of Scripture.
With the historical-critical method threatening the inerrancy of the Bible, a clash ensued, leading to a theological split. Todd emphasizes the importance of upholding the authority of Scripture in today’s church and how this historical fight continues to hold vital lessons for believers today.

DOES A PASTOR HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY SUNDAY?
It’s Mailbag Friday! Should pastors address this issue every Sunday?
Wretched Radio | Air Date: September 06, 2024
https://media-wretched.org/Radio/Podcast/WR2024-0906.mp3
It’s Mailbag Friday!
• I try to talk to my parents, but they insist on treating me like a small child and micromanage my life. I try to communicate, but my mom often yells about everything, which makes me angry and yell back. I work hard to get along with them and honor them, but I always end up losing my temper. What should I do?
• I heard a short clip where you warned against pastors using AI to write sermons, which I agree with. However, I’d like to hear your thoughts on using AI as a glorified thesaurus or wordsmith. For instance, different Bible translations use varying terms for ‘propitiation,’ like ‘atoning sacrifice.’ Do you see any issues with asking AI to provide alternative phrases to articulate these concepts?
• I was wondering if not including the gospel in every sermon would mean a preacher is not being orthodox. Is it necessary to share the gospel in every sermon to adhere to orthodox teaching?
• When churchgoers are chronically late, should pastors address this issue, even if it might offend some members and risk them not returning to church? What’s your take on addressing punctuality in church settings?
