It's another quiet week here at the Nintendo Voice Chat world headquarters. Nintendo did show off its new museum in a Direct, and it was as charming and interesting as you'd expect. Gamescom is also happening this week and there's actually nothing Nintendo to report. They didn't even go this year. However, August 23, 1991 does mark the anniversary of the Super NES North American release, and there are always plenty of questions to answer. OK, sure, we can all agree Nintendo did it better in the end, but there was a time there when being a Nintendo kid was tough thanks to the genius marketing and 2-year head-start SEGA had in the 16-bit gaming space. The SEGA Genesis was a really excellent console, and put up a valiant fight against the Super NES during the darkest days of the console wars of the early 1990s. It had a CD-ROM! It had an expansion so you could play 32-bit games! But perhaps most importantly, it had a plucky blue fellow by the name of Sonic.
