On today’s episode of Felony Friday Jennifer Holloway joins John to share her unique story. Jennifer was a first time offender when she took a plea and was sentenced to 13 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamines. Jennifer is a great storyteller and throughout the episode she gives viewers a detailed account of her prison experience. Including when tornados hit the prison she was in. On today’s episode John is joined by a prisoner on death row, Terry Robinson who goes by Chanton. Chanton has been a prisoner on death row for 20 years. He was tried capitally before a jury in April of 2000 on the Criminal Session of Superior Court, in Wilson County North Carolina. The jury found him guilty of first-degree murder. The jury also found him guilty of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Following a capital sentencing proceeding, the jury recommended a sentence of death for the first-degree murder conviction. Chanton maintains his innocence. My guest today on Felony Friday is Michael Braxton. He goes by the name Alim. He has been on Death row for 28 years and spent 7 of those years in solitary confinement. He was sentenced to death for killing another inmate at the Caledonia Correctional Center in Halifax, where he was already serving a life sentence for killing a man during a robbery in Raleigh. He credits his faith for changing him as a man. In addition to being a co-author of the Crimson Letters: Voices From Death Row, he is also is a rapper and musician who produces music on Death Row.
