Welcome to Episode 1814; part of our Italian wine interview series set in Bologna! There they conducted dozens of interviews with some of Italy's most inspiring producers. Join the fun every Thursday afternoon!Tune-in each Thursday as we bring you the great interviews that unfolded over the course of 3 days.More about today’s winery:Kristian Keber's parents' house, Edi Keber, has a history of 350 years and is a prestigious winery that started bottling in 1957. He inherited an old vineyard from his grandfather Roman and he decided to realize his dream in the Goriška Brda Region. The cultivated grapes are the natives: Ribolla Gialla, Tocai Friulano and Malvasia Istriana. Of course, he followed the idea of Wine-Terroir and therefore the name of the wine is Brda, which is the Slovenian translation of Collio. The slopes are covered with terraced vineyards and the soil is called Ponca or Opoka. He has always loved macerated wines with spontaneous fermentation, and he has been experimenting with this method for years, now, Brda is the realization of it. He bottles only one type of wine named "BRDA"which expresses the land of Brda.Connect:Website: www.edikeber.it/ _______________________________Let's keep in touch! Ep. 1813 The UK Fine wine market in a post-pandemic world | wine2wine Business Forum 2023

Welcome to Episode 1813, where we present the session recordings from the wine2wine Business Forum 2023. In today's episode, we delve into The UK Fine Wine Market In a Post-Pandemic World with Claudio Povero, Adam Lechmere, and Hermione IrelandItalian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and we are pleased to present this series of market focus sessions, recorded during the Forum held in Verona in November 2023.wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event, held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key annual reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide.Abstract: The UK has long been considered one of the most dynamic wine markets in the world, its supermarkets, fine wine merchants, e-commerce retailers and other platforms offering a dizzying choice. In any high street you might find a Feteasca Regala from Romania, an English Bacchus or a Ribolla Gialla from northern Italy, alongside more traditional offerings from a dozen classic regions. What does this wealth of choice mean for those who make and sell the wines – and the communicators who write, blog and vlog about them? What’s the most effective way of promoting a 50-year-old Tawny Port compared with a white wine from Etna? What’s the difference between selling a natural wine to 30-year-old in a trendy bar in Shoreditch, to getting your top cuvée into a fine wine merchant in Mayfair?Find more about wine2wine Business Forum: https://wine2wine.net/ _______________________________Let's keep in touch! She's led roles from entry level to senior management, combining her extensive experience with data analysis, critical thinking and storytelling while driving revenue growth and brand recognition for California wineries. As a part of the 4th generation of an Italian-American family among the California wine industry pioneers, Barbara has spent her life around wine growing, production, marketing, distribution and hospitality. A Syracuse University graduate, she returned to California to gain diverse industry perspectives from a range of wineries. As an Italian Wine Ambassador, she brings her expertise to the Italian wine market, known for its authenticity and consumer demand. Barbara now runs Apri La Creative Consulting, coaching wineries in Italy and the US to strategically develop their D2C channels in line with their brand values. Together with her husband, Barbara also owns and operates a boutique wine production company, and a small import company specializing in Italian wines to the US.Guest Moderator: Barbara FitzgeraldInstagram @aprilabottigliaLinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/barbara-fitzgerald-iwa/Website www.aprilacreative.comGuest Bio - Sergio GermanoSergio was born in 1965, and as a child helped his parents in the vineyards after school. After finishing his enology studies in Alba, he worked for three important wineries in the area, all the while continuing to help out his father and contributing to the conversion of the family farm to a full-fledged winery. In 1988 the first 5,000 bottles of Barolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera were placed on the market together with a small production of Chardonnay. However, the turning point came in 1993 when all the family’s grapes produced were vinified and bottled. In 1995 Sergio bought about two hectares of Cerretta and started the challenge of producing white wines in Alta Langa, planting the first vineyards of Chardonnay, Reisling in Cigliè. In 1997 he married Elena Bonnelli who has given great support to the winery, helping Sergio with business administration as well as hospitality. The family then grew with the joy of the birth of two children: Elia born in 1998 and Maria born in 2001. After a few years, Sergio purchased another hectare in the vineyards of Prapò (2002), Lazzarito (2002), and Pradone (a parcel of Lazzarito) and also another parcel in Cerretta(2001). In 2010 Sergio’s mother inherited from her cousin Tommaso Canale half of a hectare in the most historic and famous vineyard of Serralunga d’Alba: Vigna Rionda.Sergio’s goal is to express the territory and the character of the various vines, trying to express elegance and finesse in the wines, which as a Piedmontese tradition, are generally combined with gastronomy.Guest Speaker: Sergio GermanoFacebook: ettoregermanowineryInstagram: ettoregermanoWebsite www.ettoregermano.com_______________________________Let's keep in touch!
