3 Steps to Awakening: Pray, Listen & FollowIf you were at a movie theater and your attention went to the screen, you perceive everything personally through the dream character. You seem to see the things in the dream with the body's eyes and hear with the body's ears.When we learn to pray, the prayer of our heart is to come in touch with our desire for God and to start to activate the miracle in our mind. We're all being activated to be miracle workers, but the miracles come to our minds through our consciousness from the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Then they extend and radiate out into the world that we perceive. To the screen, but when we try to interpret, PRAY, LISTEN, and FOLLOW in terms of the dream character, we'll still find doubt. Critical thoughts, and belief in failure, because it's not like the dream character wakes up. The mind dreams the world, and the dream character needs to forgive and wake up. And so when we look at PRAY, LISTEN, and FOLLOW, we tend to interpret things through the personality self. And then we question, What is prayer? How do I pray? Go from “I Can Do It” to “You Do It Through Me” - Online Movie Workshop with David Hoffmeister.Jesus and all the mystics and saints of the last 2,000 years have had the same message. Empty your mind of everything you think you think and think you know. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, "Judge not, lest you be judged".If you hold a concept in your mind about your identity, then you will see the whole world through the filter of that concept. For example, if you have a concept of a body, you believe you're a body. You see everybody as bodies. You see animals as bodies, You might even say a tree has a tree body, or a cloud has a cloud body. It's everything.You see, anything that you can think of in time and space is part of the self-concept, and that means that what Jesus is teaching us with the Course is that as long as you look through the filter of the ego, you will see yourself and everyone, and everything in a very distorted way as if it's fragmented and separate. So the whole message of A Course in Miracles is, "Hallelujah, there's only one of us. There's always only been one of us.That one of us is a Christ ideal; forgive everything you've ever learned from history or everything you've ever believed, and accept ourselves as the living Christ. That is what reality is. Realize I no longer want to try to control this world - Online Movie Workshop with David Hoffmeister.I think some of you realize deep down that you can't control the world, but you are still trying daily. You try with people around you or your cat or dog, and you try with the environment. You try to have an opinion, and of course, it doesn't matter what that attempt is. It doesn't go very well. We are never delighted when we're trying to control the world, even when we try to control the body. Maybe you try to control the weight of your body or the shape of your body, or the look and appearance of your body: parents and children, partners and lovers, other community members. Whenever we think we can control anybody, we are lined up with the ego and won't be happy because we weren't meant to be controllers. We are terrible controllers. We can see it's been a mess, if we are honest. We're never really in control of the situation. And when we finally realize that, we forgive it and feel so happy instantly. Knowing the Path is Already Laid Out for You - Online Movie Workshop with David Hoffmeister"The Truman Show" is a film that explores several themes; it questions the nature of reality and the role of fate in our lives. Join in watching the movie this weekend.From Jesus:No one wants madness, nor does anyone cling to his madness if he sees that this is what it is. ²What protects madness is the belief that it is true. ³It is the function of insanity to take the place of truth. ⁴It must be seen as truth to be believed. ⁵And if it is the truth, then must its opposite, which was the truth before, be madness now. ⁶Such a reversal, completely turned around, with madness sanity, illusions true, attack a kindness, hatred love, and murder benediction, is the goal the laws of chaos serve. ⁷These are the means by which the laws of God appear to be reversed. ⁸Here do the laws of sin appear to hold love captive, and let sin go free. (ACIM, T-23.II.14:1-8)No one can waken from a dream the world is dreaming for him. ²He becomes a part of someone else’s dream. ³He cannot choose to waken from a dream he did not make. ⁴Helpless he stands, a victim to a dream conceived and cherished by a separate mind. ⁵Careless indeed of him this mind must be, as thoughtless of his peace and happiness as is the weather or the time of day. ⁶It loves him not, but casts him as it will in any role that satisfies its dream. ⁷So little is his worth that he is but a dancing shadow, leaping up and down according to a senseless plot conceived within the idle dreaming of the world. 9. This is the only picture you can see; the one alternative that you can choose, the other possibility of cause, if you be not the dreamer of your dreams. ²And this is what you choose if you deny the cause of suffering is in your mind. ³Be glad indeed it is, for thus are you the one decider of your destiny in time. ⁴The choice is yours to make between a sleeping death and dreams of evil or a happy wakening and joy of life. (ACIM, T-27.VII.8:1–9:4)This world is full of miracles. ²They stand in shining silence next to every dream of pain and suffering, of sin and guilt. ³They are the dream’s alternative, the choice to be the dreamer, rather than deny the active role in making up the dream. (ACIM, T-28.II.12:1-3) . Do you believe that truth can be but some illusions? ²They are dreams because they are not true. ³Their equal lack of truth becomes the basis for the miracle, which means that you have understood that dreams are dreams; and that escape depends, not on the dream, but only on awaking. ⁴Could it be some dreams are kept, and others wakened from? ⁵The choice is not between which dreams to keep, but only if you want to live in dreams or to awaken from them. (ACIM, T-29.IV.1:1-5)How happy would your dreams become if you were not the one who gave the “proper” role to every figure which the dream contains. ²No one can fail but your idea of him, and there is no betrayal but of this. ³The core of dreams the Holy Spirit gives is never one of fear. ⁴The coverings may not appear to change, but what they mean has changed because they cover something else. ⁵Perceptions are determined by their purpose, in that they seem to be what they are for. ⁶A shadow figure who attacks becomes a brother giving you a chance to help, if this becomes the function of the dream. ⁷And dreams of sadness thus are turned to joy. (ACIM, T-29.IV.5:1-7)It never is the idol that you want. ²But what you think it offers you, you want indeed and have the right to ask for. ³Nor could it be possible it be denied. ⁴Your will to be complete is but God’s Will, and this is given you by being His. ⁵God knows not form. ⁶He cannot answer you in terms that have no meaning. ⁷And your will could not be satisfied with empty forms, made but to fill a gap that is not there. ⁸It is not this you want. ⁹Creation gives no separate person and no separate thing the power to complete the Son of God. ¹⁰What idol can be called upon to give the Son of God what he already has? 5. Completion is the function of God’s Son.(ACIM, T-30.III.4:1–5:1)Jesus is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, Whom he called down upon the earth after he ascended into Heaven, or became completely identified with the Christ, the Son of God as He created Him. ²The Holy Spirit, being a creation of the one Creator, creating with Him and in His likeness or spirit, is eternal and has never changed. ³He was “called down upon the earth” in the sense that it was now possible to accept Him and to hear His Voice. ⁴His is the Voice for God, and has therefore taken form. ⁵This form is not His reality, which God alone knows along with Christ, His real Son, Who is part of Him. It is still saying that something is lacking here and that the world can provide it for me. So let me get get get get and see what I couldn't get to fulfill this lag inside. So we're trying to manipulate relationships, manipulate every situation to get something. Still, regardless, you reach a point where you realize that you can't get what you want from the world, and that's not a tiny realization but, in most cases, leaves you disillusioned. When you see, there is nothing to get, and you give up. But, at that moment, you don't see a body anymore; you begin to see kindness. You love children, you love people, and you become generous. We're finding that the world isn't that complicated now. In linear time, we're saying no to God, and by saying yes to God, we accept the holy instant in perfect innocence. A simple yes or no. This world is true or false. Love is true, and the rest is not.Jesus is teaching us only an instant does this world endure. Everything boils down to one instant, and in A Course in Miracles, Jesus calls this one instance the unholy instant, and the correction is, of course, the Holy Instant. It is the only one with no limits and reaches out to every broken fragment of the Sonship with healing and uniting comfort. But soon, bubbling joy starts in your heart, maybe for the first time. When you feel this way, you realize there is no reason to return to a depressing state of trying to make it in this world. How to Find the Holy Spirit’s Prompts in Your Mind - Online Movie Workshop with David HoffmeisterEven when you contact the Holy Spirit, you start to live a much more intuitive life and much less of an analytical life. However, when you focus more on the present moment and less on the past, you will still find that you must become very conscious of where you reject or ignore the Spirit's prompts. Jesus told us, let your yes be yes and let your no be no; the Spirit's guidance will not be saying yes to everything and everyone; it will require discernment. And there will be times when you must let the Spirit put the word in your mouth - Yes.
