It teaches us the contrast of variable perception, where no two people see the same world. This makes relationships difficult, as they are not seeing the same world as a projection of personal beliefs and preferences. The Holy Spirit allows us to come to peace of mind by raising our consciousness to the highest perspective possible. This is what Jesus experienced on the cross.In human existence, we don't really have a comparison of truth and illusion. We're just dealing with a bunch of images that seem to have reality, but there's no contrast of anything else. It would be like a child asking their parent, "Tell me what eternity is like." Session - Sunday Morning  - Weekend Retreat, Malaga - Oct. 20, 2024In this Sunday morning session at the Malaga Weekend Retreat David talked among other things about that Abraham Maslow developed a hierarchy of needs, focusing on self-actualization as the top goal. This concept is based on the Greek belief that "Know thyself" is the ultimate goal of human development. The ego attempts to deny this through hypnotism, mesmerism, and imagination, covering the truth with unreal images. Atonement, the correction, is the awareness that the separation never happened. Jesus' teachings on forgiveness are not about forgiving people for their actions. It's about forgiving your mind's belief for what you believe they did. The belief in linear time is at the bottom of all beliefs, as it is the great riddle of the ego. The belief in the body, another illusion, is a system of balances and counterbalances that are not real. To understand this, one must first test their emotions, such as happiness or upset. How do I feel? That's a very important test. Am I happy, supremely happy, or am I upset? The degree or the direction of the upset does not matter. Am I irritated, annoyed, or am I enraged? Do I feel just a little bad, or do I feel extremely guilty and shameful? Jesus is saying, "Upset is just upset." And He's going to have to teach us that upset is an illusion. If God is love, if Christ is love, if heaven is love, where does upset fit into love? It doesn't fit. "Unmasking Illusions: A Journey Beyond Linear Time and Specialness" - A Movie Commentary by David HoffmeisterDavid's movie commentary dismantles our belief and perception of linear time, private thoughts, and people-pleasing. Private thoughts are defense mechanisms against the Holy Instance, love, light, and simplicity. Jesus teaches that the present moment is the closest approximation of eternity, and all mystics and saints emphasize being present and bringing God's love. However, the linear world of time and space is like a mask pulled over, made out of specialness.Jesus explains that specialness is the ego, and specialness made this world. This goes beyond the concept of special relationships and what many people think about special relationships. Everything that seems to exist independently is specialness.David's movie commentary helps us disassemble our faulty perceptions and show that things we assume, are unreal. Jesus teaches us that God did not make trees, the world, or time. He also explains that nothing real can be threatened, and therein lies the peace of God.The day's lesson is that illusions cannot satisfy God's Son.
