A Thousand Natural Shocks With Gabe S. Dunn
Gabe Dunn | Diamond MPrint Productions
After years of attempting to "girlboss" his way out of systemic class divide, Gabriel Shane Dunn, now a trans man and veteran podcaster, relaunches his show, “Bad With Money,” with a furious, funny, and deeply personal exploration of surviving our capitalist hellscape. Ditching conventional finance advice, “A Thousand Natural Shocks,” is a companion show to Gabe’s thriving newsletter of the same name. This isn't just about money; it's about breaking free from the individualistic lies and fighting for collective liberation. Capitalism is killing us. The police state is killing us. Fascism is killing us. But we can no longer feel helpless. We can resist.Send a question or voice memo to GabeIsBadWithMoney@gmail.com.

Mailbag: Job Interviews with Take Home Assignments?!
A cis man writes in questioning how difficult it is to change your name as a trans person because he had an easy time when he took his wife's last name 20 years ago. Discord listeners and Gabe explain the differences. Should this listener pay off their debts even though it's not high interest and they'd rather pay for fun experiences with their husband? Gabe shares their own experiences. If Gabe had rich parents, they think they'd do nothing all day. Anonymous exposes how "assignments" and "take home" work is a scam part of job interviews. Stephanie Lee has tax advice and an Apple review shares how much they've enjoyed the tone of the show.Buy tickets for the live Just Between Us Show Replay:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jbu-goes-live-and-gets-high-tickets-602776289107This has been a Noted Bisexual and Diamond MPrint ProductionsProduced by Melisa D. Step 1: Cry! Step 2: Get Out of Debt! Welcome back to another "boring" episode with our favorite guest Stephanie Lee of Frequently Taxed Questions where we discuss debt and all the ways it's affected Gabe's life, even now. Should you consolidate? How do you start paying off massive debt? What are tradelines? What happens to you if you just don't pay? Stephanie gives gentle and really helpful advice to Gabe and everyone else going through big life changes with huge financial implications. It's not really a boring episode. It's just very honest and useful!Buy tickets for the live Just Between Us Show:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jbu-goes-live-and-gets-high-tickets-602776289107This has been a Noted Bisexual and Diamond MPrint ProductionsProduced by Melisa D. Breakdowns and Takedowns: Shark Tank's Daymond John, FUBU, and The Power of Broke w/ Marcus Garrett
The show is back and in a shocking turn of events, Gabe actually enjoys a personal finance book written by a rich person! Gabe and author Marcus Garrett of Life After Debt dive into Daymond John, one of the sharks on Shark Tank and the co-founder of the Black-owned clothing brand FUBU. Daymond's refreshing yet frustrating 2016 book "The Power of Broke: How Empty Pockets, a Tight Budget, and a Hunger for Success Can Become Your Greatest Competitive Advantage" shares some WILD stories with both empathy and realism. Unfortunately, it all goes downhill right before the landing... Still, this episode has some really good ideas from a rich guy!! No one is more surprised than us!Links:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FETo3quDKxIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHbxx6WOq40https://thehundreds.com/blogs/content/the-rise-and-fall-of-fubuhttps://www.nytimes.com/1999/03/14/style/trying-to-stay-true-to-the-street.htmlBuy tickets for the live Just Between Us Show:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jbu-goes-live-and-gets-high-tickets-602776289107This has been a Noted Bisexual and Diamond MPrint ProductionsProduced by Melisa D. Tipping with Tipped Finance's Barbara Sloan
Barbara Sloan, author of "Tipped: The life changing guide to financial freedom for waitresses, bartenders, strippers, and all other service industry professionals," joins Gaby to talk about a topic we've wanted to cover for a while: tipping and working for tips. In the US, 3 million people work mainly for tips and yet financial advice never takes them into account or gives them practical steps to financial stability. We talk about the minimum and subminimum wage, what patrons can do to be better customers to tipped workers, and how people who work for tips can better save, budget, and control their money.

Mailbag: American Healthcare Is A Mercurial Elderly Aunt
Gaby steals from women... just like Don Draper. Lily updates us on her workplace accommodations situation re: ADHD and capitalism. Mal corrects their history of school accommodations based on new information from their mother. A transfemme listener named Claire writes about paying for gender affirming surgeries, adding authorized users to bank accounts and credit cards, and also accuses Mal of being a Boomer in a Millennial's body. Gaby's going to change their name with the same format Taylor Swift used to roll out the track titles for Midnights. Cooper, who is paying for aptitude tests, is back to talk salmon, Playstation 5, and the military. Finley explains blood donation in Canada. Charlie leaves a great voicemail about healthcare that leads to some really great advice. And finally, red rum.

The True Costs of Abortion: Stephanie Dworak's Story
This week, Gaby has the honor of speaking to Stephanie Dworak about the costs of her abortion and the emotional and financial stress of going out of state for the procedure on a child she desperately wanted. In a follow up to the show's childcare costs episode, Stephanie shares her story in hopes of bringing the realities of overturning Roe V Wade to the forefront of the harrowing conversation. (Her experience happened in Nebraska, a state where abortion was legal up to 22 weeks, but still, living it was a nightmare.)

Cheap Horror and The Shining With Maggie Mae Fish and Mal Blum
Maggie Mae Fish, comedian, horror fan, and descendant of serial killer Albert Fish, joins Gaby and Mal for a special spooky Halloween money episode. We talk about the origins of cheap horror and how it became one of the most affordable genres of movie to make. Gaby does a deep dive on Val Lewton and his stream of iconic low budget horror films from the 1940s. Mal reads a short scary story they wrote as a child called "Ghost Ship" which involves a pirate named Captain Blood. Then, the trio dig into the finances and capitalism of Stanley Kubrick's 1980 classic The Shining. How is work and desperation for work in America depicted? How is Wendy being financially, physically and emotionally abused? How are marginalized people used behind the scenes in the name of men's art?

Mailbag: Should A Doctor Tell You If They Recognize You?
This week, the trans femmes finally write in with costs of transition! Gaby learns in real time that trans surgeries are often denied to fat people. Cooper has three very specific things she wants to better herself. Kate and Caroline validate Mal’s opinions on IUDs. Ashley sends a shocking voicemail about working for commission. We also talk workplace accommodations, trans gynos who know you socially, banking rules, Mal’s turbulent experiences with condoms, and what we were told we should do as jobs when we were in middle school. Plus, the struggle of kink and sex podcasts to make money and get sponsorships.
