Christian Dawkins, centerpiece of HBO's Documentary "THE SCHEME"
Christian Dawkins, centerpiece of the film "The Scheme" (debuting March 31 at 9pm ET exclusively on HBO) joins Sports Business Radio Host Brian Berger for an in-depth conversation.
In THE SCHEME, Christian Dawkins faces the camera for the first time and explains in fascinating detail how a kid from Saginaw, Michigan ended up in a hotel suite surrounded by FBI agents with a warrant for his arrest. Dawkins was orchestrating massive cash payments to top high school prospects with the help of Adidas, and, unbeknownst to him, undercover FBI agents. Ultimately, guilty verdicts on a range of fraud and bribery charges would leave Dawkins with approximately eighteen months of prison time.
THE SCHEME also features, for the first time, wiretap audio of conversations Dawkins had with Will Wade (LSU Head Basketball Coach) and Sean Miller (University of Arizona Head Basketball Coach).
But before the film debuts on HBO on March 31, Christian Dawkins joins Brian Berger for a wide-ranging conversation about the making of the film, why he chose THE SCHEME as the place to tell his side of the story and his thoughts on the current college basketball landscape and the NCAA. Dawkins also discusses Will Wade (LSU), Sean Miller (University of Arizona) and Rick Pitino (Iona).
Dawkins’ candid conversation with Berger also includes a comparison of signing music artists to his current record label and how that differs from the ability to sign young athletes and why Dawkins believes that is wrong.
Dawkins provides an insider’s perspective into the college basketball landscape unlike any you will hear.
