The Narcissistic Trance is a state of consciousness that a narcissistic abuser will attempt to pull their victims into, a state where they can be manipulated, controlled, and exploited. This trance first happens in the initial love bombing stage. Intimate relationships offer us a wealth of information but only if we are willing to learn. In order to use our relationships as a mirror and for healing, we must have the humility to know we always play a role in our dysfunction. Detachment is the idea that we do not cling to people, places, things or experiences to give us an identity, safety and purpose. Living detached is living with a state of grace and allowing what comes and goes to do so without attaching to either.
