Ep. 76 - Modern Shamanism with Kelly Nezat

This week on Synchronicity I'm joined by a bonafide modern day mystic, Kelly Nezat. Kelly is the founder of two wonderful organizations called Soullab and Everyday Shamans. In addition to being incredibly cool, Kelly has spent his life immersing himself in esoteric, mystical, alchemical and shamanic studies. Our conversation revolves around shamanic practices that can be used in our everyday lives, the rising tide of empaths in the world and the collective evolution of our world. Ep. 75 - Live from Los Angeles with Kelly MacLean and Michael Donovan

Hope you're right smack dab in the middle of an excellent week. Today's episode of Synchronicity was recorded live in L.A. at the MIND / WAVE event on March 18th. I'll admit to being a little nervous about how the event would turn out, but in the end it couldn't have gone any better. It was such an incredible time meeting so many of the podcasters on MindPod Network for the first time. Being able to put faces to names in 3D reality is never a bad thing. If you missed the event and wanted to attend, we'll be doing more of these very soon. But back to the episode... In this episode, I sat down with Kelly MacLean from The Tao of Comedy and Michael Donovan from Walking Home to discuss spiritual elitism, the meaning of life and the importance of community. It was the highlight my trip (which is really saying something considering how good and cheap the weed is out there!) Ep. 74 -Human Nature and Human Habit with Yung Pueblo

A major blizzard is hitting the Northeast (where I am) so I'm writing this in between shoveling shifts which are required because my dog, Maceo, can't go to the bathroom in 3 feet of snow. Man up, Maceo! This week on Synchronicity I'm joined by Diego Perez who writes under the pen name, Yung Pueblo. Yung Pueblo is a writer, speaker, meditator and social activist. He's also one of the easiest people I've ever spoken to, which is saying a lot. In this episode we talk about meditation, the importance of being aware of our internal world and how this awareness ultimately relates to the "out there" world we experience every day. I'm gonna lay down the gauntlet here and say this is a top five episode of Synchronicity.

Ep. 73 - Tim Heidecker

This week comedic brilliance personified, Tim Heidecker joins me on Synchronicity. Anyone who knows me, knows that I preach the gospel of Tim Heidecker wherever I go. Tim has long been one of my favorite producers of comedy and entertainment so it was an honor to get to chat with him. Our conversation revolves around collaboration, intuition and what the hell is going on in the world today. If you know who Tim is, you're gonna enjoy this one. If you don't know who Tim is, you're still gonna enjoy this one.

Ep. 72 - DMT, Science and Comedy with Shane Mauss

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT MIND / WAVE L.A is happening. A live MindPod Network event in Los Angeles featuring all of your favorite MindPod podcasters AND special guests. March 18th. Details here --------> https://goo.gl/yWJKN5 Comedian and psychonaut Shane Mauss joins me on Synchronicity this week. Shane is in the midst of a 100-city comedy tour called "A Good Trip" where he combines comedy and science to talk about psychedelics. Pretty cool, right? On this episode we discuss Shane's 90+ DMT experiences and how to approach transcendental experiences as objectively as possible. A nice way to approach this episode is to pretend Shane is the left-brain and I'm the right-brain. Shane's Podcast: "Here We Are" with Shane Mauss Shane's Comedy Tour: A Good Trip

Ep. 71 - Community, Curiosity and Optimism with Zach Mack

This week on Synchronicity I sit down with one of the coolest people I know, Zach Mack. Zach owns and operates ABC Beer Co., an awesome beer bar and hang out spot in the East Village of Manhattan. Besides running one of New York's best bars Zach is one of the most knowledgeable, curious and optimistic people I've met. I've been meaning to sit down with him and find out what makes him tick for a while so to be able to do it under the guise of Synchronicity was especially fun. We cover a broad range of topics (really, when don't these conversation cover a broad range of topics?) like the meaning of water in dreams, the importance of community, being curious and how to maintain optimism in a time when everything can seem so bleak. The episodes I record in person are always some of my favorites and this is no exception. P.S. I started a Slack Group for Synchronicity listeners. If you don't know what Slack is, it's a mobile and web application that helps facilitate group discussion. Ep. 70 - High Times with Sean Dunne

This week's episode is a little bit different. Last week I met up with my friend and MindPod Network compatriot Sean Dunne and his wonderful producer and girlfriend, Cass Greener at their apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Sean and Cass are expert documentarians. Be sure to check out there work over at Very Ape TV, where all of their films are available for free. We partook in the devil's weed and a had a pretty free-form and ranging conversation touching on concepts like music, psychedelics and the current global situation (whatever that means!) One facet of our conversation that I found particularly interesting is when Sean mentioned he thought he could give everything up and become a monk at any time. This touches on the subject of being an ascetic or being "in the world." Anyone who's had some type of transcendental experience has come across the feeling that it might be best to give it all up and head to a cave in the Himalays, but is that the right thing to do? Also, I'd like to point out that 80% of this episode is just me yacking so if you're not into that sorry!

Ep. 69 - Dark Times with Randy Cohen

Randy is the former author of "The Ethicist" a column from the New York Times Magazine that dealt with ethical questions and dilemmas from reader submitted questions. Questions like whether a patient about to receive anesthesia should be allowed to refuse an anesthesiologist based on their race. Or if wearing a fur coat inherited by a relative is OK since you didn't buy it. In addition to being an excellent thinker and writer, Randy hosts a wonderful radio show and podcast called "Person, Place, Thing" where he asks each guest to talk about a person, place and thing that's important to them. Great premise, right? Randy and I discuss the current state of the world and while we see similar problems we have very different viewpoints and perspectives on where we're at right now. Ep. 68 - Fear as an Ally with Mel Stephens

Fear. It's something we all deal with in varying degrees almost every day of our lives. Whether it's the fear of going to the dentist, or the fear of rejection or the fear of death all of us know what it's like to be afraid. My guest this week, Mel Stephens, is no stranger to fear herself. In fact, I found out about Mel through her excellent podcast, Fear Based Life, where each episode she explores her own and her guests fears. Mel is an expert at sharing her own vulnerability in a way that helps people. And frankly, people who do that are my favorite type of people. In our discussion this week we speak about the current political climate, our own deep-seeded fears and Mel's struggle with the concept of death. Sit back, strap in and get ready for this weeks Synchronicity with Mel Stephens.

Ep. 67 - The Artist's Future with Jerry Cannon

My guest this week is Jerry Cannon. Jerry is a creative professional and founder of the lifestyle brand Infinite Bit. We talk about empowering artists by creating business models that puts revenue and control back into creator's hands. This is a topic that's dominated my business psyche since I started making money out in the world. Having this conversation with Jerry was both inspiring and illuminating. The Synchronicity Book Club starts Feb. 1, 2017. Join the Synchronicity Facebook Group for more details.
