Tom Peters
We spoke to Tom Peters, the father of the modern business book. Before 'In Search of Excellence' in 1982, most business information was contained textbooks or academic journals. But thankfully, engaging and insightful information is now available and digestible for everyone. Tom Peters just released a brand new book: 'The Excellence Dividend'. The message is the same as many of his previous works, because most big companies STILL haven't got the idea. 'People First' is Peters's key to success - the only way to get a thriving, growing organisation is to focus on people.Check out Tom and his books at http://tompeters.com/ Hosted on Acast. In Search of Excellence
In Search of Excellence - by Thomas Peters and Robert Waterman Jr'Lessons from America's best run companies' This is widely regarded as one of the very FIRST popular business and management books, the book that created the entire category and brought these ideas from the exclusive academic journals to the masses. Tom Peters and Bob Waterman worked in management consulting at McKinsey and wanted to find out what made an 'excellent' company. They found 8 common traits the excellent organisations focused on that average business neglected. This book was written in the early 1980s, but most of the lessons and recommendations are still applicable today. Want to see our Top 50 favourite books of all time? Perennial Seller
Perennial Seller - by Ryan Holiday'The art of making and marketing work that lasts' This book is all about putting in the time and effort and energy into making something that is really really good, and then getting it out into the world. It's about making something 'perennial', something that will last for decades and still be selling in the future, not putting together some low-quality garbage and a flash-in-the-pan scammy marketing campaign to sell a lot of copies in a quick amount of time and then it dies. This is the perfect book to read to balance out some other ideas around hustle and shipping and minimum viable product and the like. If you want to make something great, this book is a must-read. This book is featured in our 'Top 50' books. To get the full list, send us an email to podcast@whatyouwilllearn.com and we'll send the PDF to you. Hosted on Acast.
