Bonus Episode: An Improved Way to Listen to General Conference Talks
Welcome back to the General Conference podcast. Today we have a few updates to share with you about the future of this podcast. First, we wanted to let you know that we’ll continue to make it easy for you to listen to general conference talks spread out between April and October. But we’ve come up with a more personalized way for you to do this, and that’s with a more versatile function on the Gospel Library app, which I’ll tell you how to set up at the end of this episode. With this customization, you can set your own pace for how frequently you listen to talks, rather than getting them on just Tuesdays and Fridays. And you can still receive notifications on your phone to make it simple to listen.
So, what does that update mean for this podcast? For now, we’re going to pause our regular publication of conference talks here. But you’ll want to keep following this account because we’ll bring you updates on this podcast and other podcasts from the Church in the future.
We’d also love to hear your ideas about the ideal way you’d like to study general conference in the podcast space. You can send us your thoughts and preferences through email at podcast@ChurchofJesusChrist.org; please put “General Conference Podcast” in the subject line. Your voice matters so much to us, and we truly appreciate everyone who takes time to share your thoughts.
And thank you for being part of our podcast community. We love being united with so many others in listening to and learning from prophets, apostles, and other Church leaders. We’re sincerely grateful for you!
And now, as promised, we want to share with you how to use the customizable feature on the Gospel Library app where you can establish your own pace for listening to general conference talks.
There’s actually a video tutorial that walks you through this process, which we’ll link in the show notes if that’s easier for you. But here’s also how you can do it:
https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/new-notification-options-on-gospel-library-app#:~:text=Accessing%20Notifications%20Settings,which%20notifications%20to%20toggle%20on.
First you’ll open your Gospel Library app and then open the Settings menu. Then click on Notifications. Under Study Plans, find the Plus symbol or the Create Study Plan button, depending on your phone. Next, browse the library and select General Conference and the April or October general conference you want to listen to. You can then choose to set a schedule where you select which days of the week you want a conference talk sent to you and for how long. Then mark that you want a reminder and what time you want it sent. And that’s it! Now your customizable study schedule will be adapted to the days and times that are best for you each week!
Of course, you can also get a physical copy of the general conference issues of the Liahona magazine to help you in your study at store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Thank you again for listening to the General Conference podcast! We look forward to being in touch again in the future!
