Gender Reveal

In this tribute, the hosts honor Cecilia Gentili, an advocate, storyteller, and mother who supported the trans community. They reflect on the impact she made on their lives, share heartfelt testimonials from friends, and discuss living in a conservative neighborhood. Cecilia was a tireless advocate and pillar of support for the trans community in New York.

Tuck chats with Shuli Branson, author of Practical Anarchism: A Guide for Daily Life. Topics include anarchist refusal, breakup theory, catching authoritarian impulses as a parent, responsible financial decisions, Palestine solidarity, abolishing work, and signing up for your shift at the depression factory.

Cassius Adair, academic and occasional Gender Reveal producer, discusses various topics including his role in the Twin Flames cult documentary, getting mpreg, joining trans studies accidentally, writing about whiteness and tech history, navigating fertility and pregnancy as a transgender individual, and envisioning a future of flexible and exciting genders.

Artist Salimatu Amabebe discusses their drag persona Barracuda, retconning their dead dad, demanding better gender-affirming surgeries, and the pros/cons of making vulnerable art. They envision themselves as a house for differently-gendered beings. They remix a 4-year-old TSA segment, talk about their experience in art practice grad school, and the importance of being specific and prepared for top surgery.

Tuck chats with Lamya H, author of Hijab Butch Blues. Topics include discovering queer themes in the Quran, asserting gender identity after having a baby, and finding gender euphoria in religious practice. They also discuss pinkwashing, Dadaism, and subway speed challenges.

Journalist Rax Will discusses queer food, pronoun-themed cocktails, and the marketing of genderless fashion to A-Fab bodies. They also explore navigating words and identities within the trans and queer communities, challenges of being misgendered at restaurants, and the importance of gender-neutral practices in the restaurant industry.

Ally Beardsley and Babette Thomas discuss making podcasts for trans people. They reflect on gender, podcasting, mutual aid, and the process of naming podcasts. They explore gender definitions, transgender experiences, and the importance of research and education for parents of trans kids.
