Ralph Acampora & Katie Stockton: Top Technicians Tackle the 2024 Outlook for Stocks, Bonds, Gold, & More

Ralph Acampora is known as the “Godfather of Technical Analysis” thanks to his half-century of experience on Wall Street. Katie Stockton is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and founder and managing partner of Fairlead Strategies, LLC. In this interview – recorded from the floor of our MoneyShow Investment Masters Symposium Sarasota in early December – the two top technicians tackle the 2024 outlook for stocks, bonds, precious metals, and more.Katie leads off with a discussion of why she’s constructive on equities, but why she needs to see a confirmed upside breakout and improving breadth to get more bullish. She explains why there has been a difference between how the stock market LOOKS and how it FEELS – covering mega-cap technology outperformance, the first signs of sector rotation in Q4 2023, and which two groups she’s watching to see if that move has legs. She later discusses why interest rates should trend lower in H1 2024, supporting equities, and shares her technical take on gold after it tested all-time highs. Finally, Katie highlights three stocks that look to be bullishly breaking out of basing patterns. For his part, Ralph talks about the extraordinarily powerful bottoming action he identified in October 2022 – and why it helped signal a big bull run was coming. While he feels parts of the market like technology are tired, he’s still constructive on stocks. His key comment? “Rotation is the lifeline of the bull market”...and he’s starting to see money migrate to groups like financials, travel and leisure, and even REITs. Ralph goes on to highlight one subsector he’s extremely positive on, as well one group he’s watching closely but “can’t pound the table on just yet.”Be sure to check out our 2024 MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Las Vegas, set for Feb. 21-23, 2024, at the Paris Las Vegas. Ralph will be joining a main stage panel and teaching a MoneyMasters Class onsite. Click here to register: https://conferences.moneyshow.com/moneyshow-las-vegas/?scode=061246

Liz Ann Sonders is Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist at Charles Schwab & Co. In this interview – recorded from the floor of our MoneyShow Investment Masters Symposium Sarasota, she expands on several of her key investment themes. Specifically, Liz Ann explains why she calls this the “Temperamental Era” and what her “Rolling Recession” thesis means for investors. In short, the 2009-2020 period was the outlier...not the new norm...for the economy and markets, and investors need to adapt accordingly. Liz Ann then pivots to her outlook for Federal Reserve policy in 2024, her take on the “Magnificent Seven” stock phenomenon, and why focusing on stock FACTORS (versus just SECTORS) is so important. Finally, she discusses the emergence of geopolitical “blocs” and how they will influence markets over time – as well as why ACTIVE (rather than PASSIVE) investing will become more important in the years ahead.Don’t forget to check out our 2024 MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Las Vegas, set for Feb. 21-23, 2024, at the Paris Las Vegas. Dan Ives: The “Biggest Transformational Tech Trend in 30 Years” & How Investors Can Profit

Dan Ives is managing director and senior equity analyst at Wedbush Securities, as well as a technology sector specialist with a quarter-century of experience in the space. In this interview, he calls 2024 a “table pounding period” for tech, with the sector likely rising another 20% for the year and “Magnificent Seven” names tacking on as much as 40%. In fact, he labels this a “1995 moment” with Artificial Intelligence (AI) probably “the biggest transformational tech trend we’ve seen in 30 years.” Dan goes on to explain that AI spending currently accounts for only 1% of IT budgets, but that it should climb to 8% to 10% in the next year. That will help drive well-known “AI stocks” like Microsoft (MSFT) and NVIDIA (NVDA) higher, with gains spreading to “second-, third-, and fourth-derivative” names over time. He then discusses other sector drivers like increased digital advertising and cybersecurity spending, and notes that a strong holiday shopping season should help consumer tech plays like Apple (AAPL). We wrap up with a discussion of the future for tech IPOs, the impact of Tesla’s (TSLA) Cybertruck rollout on its shares, and the lessons that founders, boards of directors, and public and private sector investors can take away from the OpenAI/Sam Altman saga. Finally, he gives a sneak peek of what he’ll discuss at the 2024 MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Las Vegas, set for Feb. 21-23, 2024, at the Paris Las Vegas. Jon & Pete Najarian: Recession Risk, the Fed, and Smart Options Trading Moves in this Market

Jon and Pete Najarian are the co-founders of Market Rebellion, long-time options market educators, and authors of the new book, It’s Not an Option. In this episode featuring material recorded at the 2023 MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Orlando, the Najarian Brothers chat about the risk of recession, the outlook for Federal Reserve policy, and the best options market moves for traders in this market. They believe the Fed will push the economy into a recession, but that it should be a shallow one that doesn’t last too long. They also caution that tax loss selling, lackluster earnings, and geopolitical problems or an energy-price spike could put pressure on markets into year-end.Next, they explain why focusing on shorter-term timeframes is the ideal choice when trading options. They counsel traders to have the discipline to sell when they rack up profits of 100% or more on options plays. And they explain how rolling down to lower strike prices with put options trades – or higher strikes with call options trades – often makes sense when trades are working. Finally, they explain what readers will learn from their new book – whether they’re beginner, intermediate, or advanced traders. If you’d like to learn more from MoneyShow expert contributors like Jon and Pete, join 75+ of them at the 2024 MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Las Vegas, set for Feb. 21-23, 2024, at the Paris Las Vegas. Howard Tullman: AI, Healthtech, the Magnificent 7, & 5 Criteria for Judging EVERY Business Plan

Howard Tullman is General Managing Partner at G2T3V, LLC. The technology sector visionary has invested in and founded dozens of tech companies over the last 50 years. In this interview from the conference floor at the 2023 MoneyShow/TradersEXPO Orlando, he shares several of the lessons he’s learned over his decades as a VC/private tech investor and operator. He also provides insights into current sector conditions and emerging developments of interest to investors.Specifically, Howard shares the five criteria he uses to judge every business plan that comes across his desk. He also explains why investors should “starve your losers early, feed your winners, and be patient.” He commends strategic moves being made by some of the “Magnificent Seven” stocks, including Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple, while critiquing the practices of others such as Meta Platforms and Google. For example, AMZN, MSFT, and AAPL are companies where Artificial Intelligence (AI) “drives and improves” the business and where health tech is playing an increasing role. But META and GOOGL “live off of invading our privacy,” something that governments and parents are increasingly critical of.He then discusses how the job market will be forever changed by technology, why companies with this one specific business model will face significant problems, and how developments like instantaneous translation will increasingly put Star Trek-style tech in the hands of everyday people. Finally, he pivots to a discussion of regulatory risk and how technology can be abused in the wrong hands. If you’re interested in learning more from Howard, join him at the Investment Masters Symposium Sarasota, set for Dec. 4-6, 2023 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota.
