Help is too much to hope for in Texas. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the deaths of three migrants, a woman and two children, and said Border Patrol agents were prevented from assisting them at the border by Texas state officials. This comes just days after Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the only reason they don’t shoot migrants is because the Biden Administration would press charges. Republican governors in 15 states are saying no to federal food money for 8 million children. They don’t want to increase the welfare state, but these states have some of the highest rates of children living in poverty. Bernie Sanders is sounding the alarm. He says Trump feels humiliated, is out for revenge and could very well destroy democracy. We’ll kick off the show with our favorite Britisher Anthony Davis, talking about these topics and more. We’ll consider the results of a new poll on whether people think a president can pretty much do anything without fear of consequence or not. Just moments before Chris Christie dropped out of the race for the GOP nomination for president, he was caught up in a hot microphone incident. He said Nikki Haley is going to get smoked by Trump and that she isn’t up for this. He also referenced a call with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. At the Trump rally last evening, the former president said he was proud of his role in overturning Roe v. Wade. He took full credit for it. In addition, Trump also said that if he was the president and our allies in Europe needed our help, he would not come to their aid. Thursday brings our incredible legal expert David Katz to the show. Now that Nikki Haley has emerged as a real contender in some GOP polls, Trump is shifting away from swiping at Ron DeSantis and is honing in on Haley. His campaign launched its first TV ads critical of Haley’s position on Immigration. Trump is also bringing back the birther conspiracy. and saying that because Haley’s parents were not both born in the United States, she is not qualified to be president. Melania Trump’s mother is dead. Amalija Knavs was on her deathbed and Melania was tending to her, when Donald Trump held a large New Year’s party. Meanwhile at court, it’s not looking so hot for Trump‘s claim of presidential immunity. Three Appeals Court judges on the panel asked tough questions about whether presidents could use the military to kill their own rivals while they are in office. The nature of the questions, according to legal analysts, seems to indicate the judges will not side with Trump. We welcome John Rothmann to the program to discuss politics and more.

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear the Colorado ballot case after the state’s high court sided with a lower judge in ruling Trump ineligible for the 2024 GOP primary ballot due to the 14th Amendment Insurrection clause. A few months ago, Boeing put in a request for an exemption from key safety standards on the 737 MAX 7. It's the smallest of Boeing’s newest jets and as of yet uncertified. The move has sparked concerns because of recent problems with other Boeing Max airplanes. Case in point: the missing door plug that detached from an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 plane was found in an Oregon teacher's backyard over the weekend. For those perplexed at how any American could support Trump, one of his former press secretaries may have an answer. Stephanie Grisham appeared on CNN Sunday. She claimed Trump knows he’s telling lies when he floats conspiracy theories, “but does it anyway because he also knows his base will believe anything he says. And that he used to tell her that when she was working for him.” She also said it’s easier for Trump voters to believe conspiracy theories than come to terms with who Trump really is. You read that right! At least $7.8 million in total payments from 20 countries went to Trump-owned businesses and properties while Trump was a sitting US president. The largest total payment came from the Chinese government and its state-controlled entities which spent more than $5.5 million at properties owned by Donald Trump while he was in office. Unsealed documents related to accused sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein are now public. The documents include hundreds of names, some of them his accusers, others those of politicians or people he did business with. This is the first set of documents to be unsealed under a court order. More documents are expected in the coming weeks. The Trump legal team is looking to get some huge questions answered. As Trump’s name falls off at least two state ballots because of the insurrectionist clause in the Constitution, the Supreme Court is faced with deciding who determines whether someone is an insurrectionist and if that potential candidate is entitled to due process? They also will likely look at weather candidates for president are covered by that clause. Without answers, a CNN analysis says the 2024 election could descend into chaos. Gold Bar Bob Menendez and his wife are already facing charges involving allegedly conspiring illegally for the Egyptian government. Now, new details are being added to the indictments alleging he may have also acted on behalf of Qatar in exchange for gold bars. It’s not a good time to be a woman in Texas. A federal appeals court panel says a 1986 emergency care law can’t be used. It would have required doctors in Texas hospitals to provide abortions for women whose lives are at risk due to pregnancy.
