Wild Card Preview: Tua & Lamar are out, Herbert & Lawrence could be next great QB rivalry, Vikings & Giants could be pure chaos

Super Wild Card Weekend is only two short days away. Charles Robinson is joined by Yahoo's Jori Epstein and Charles McDonald to preview the six matchups that kick off the 2022-2023 NFL playoffs. It's hard to talk about these games without talking about the two major QBs who will be absent this weekend: Baltimore's Lamar Jackson and Miami's Tua Tagovailoa. While Jackson's injury is murkier and leads to legitimate conversation about whether he is long for Baltimore after this season, Tagovailoa's injury calls into question whether or not he should retire and how the Dolphins franchise plans to protect his health in the years to come after suffering three concussions this year.Later in the show, the gang talks about whether the Seattle Seahawks have a chance to beat Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers, how Minnesota/New York could be the most chaotically fun matchup of the weekend and why Dallas Cowboys fans are so nervous for their Monday night matchup against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.0:25 Lamar Jackson's absence looms over Baltimore-Cincinnati matchup and the Ravens' offseason12:45 Miami has little hope against an emotionally resurgent Buffalo, but how will Dolphins protect Tua in the future?22:40 Brock Purdy's magical run might turn into a pumpkin, but probably not against Seattle28:45 Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert could be the NFL's next great young QB rivalry39:00 Giants-Vikings is the most unpredictable matchup of the weekend44:30 Why both coaching staffs should be afraid of losing in Cowboys-BuccaneersPlease support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Black Monday roundup: What happens to Sean McVay, Mike McCarthy & how do Cardinals, Broncos, Panthers, Colts & Texans find next head coach?

Black Monday, the first day after the NFL regular season, is usually not a great experience for up to a quarter of the league's head coaches, as it's often not a surprise to see that amount get fired by their organizations in the hopes of starting fresh in a new year.2023's edition of Black Monday was a little different. Only the Arizona Cardinals made a big move in firing Kliff Kingsbury (as well as letting GM Steve Keim step away from the team). With known HC openings in Denver, Carolina, Houston & Indianapolis, Charles Robinson is joined by Charles McDonald and Jori Epstein to ponder what other teams could part from their head coach this offseason. They kick off the conversation discussing the Los Angeles Rams' Sean McVay, who reportedly is mulling stepping away from the team only one season removed from his Super Bowl win. Later, they discuss the sorts of candidates fans could expect in Arizona, Denver, Carolina, Indianapolis & Houston, before Jori speculates as to the chances that the Dallas Cowboys might move on from Mike McCarthy if the team loses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Monday night in Florida.0:30 Damar Hamlin released from University of Cincinnati Medical Center, transported back to Buffalo, NY4:00 Is Sean McVay on the precipice of leaving the Los Angeles Rams?19:35 Are the Arizona Cardinals a desirable head coaching location with Kyler Murray?24:20 Denver Broncos trying to make big splash with head coach hire, did Russell Wilson show enough in final weeks that he can be salvaged?29:00 Carolina Panthers likely to go all-in on a big offensive-minded HC for next hire36:10 It's anyone's best guess as to what owner Jim Irsay might do in hiring the Indianapolis Colts' next head coach44:45 Houston Texans may be the least desirable head coaching vacancy and for good reason52:55 Could the Dallas Cowboys part with Mike McCarthy if they lose Monday night in Tampa Bay?Please support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Processing Damar Hamlin's injury, the league's response and what happens next

On Monday night, the NFL world was shaken to its core as Buffalo Bills second-year safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after a hit with Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins. Emergency medical personnel performed CPR on Hamlin on the field and he was transported immediately to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he has remained in critical condition ever since. Shortly thereafter, the game was suspended indefinitely and the NFL later announced it would not be resumed at least for a week, if at all.It was a shocking and sobering moment where many feared that a national audience could've born witness to an NFL player passing away on the field of play. Charles Robinson, Charles McDonald & Jori Epstein devote the entirety of this week's podcast to processing the events of Monday night, what Hamlin's health status is at as of the time of this taping on Wednesday evening and what the NFL plans to do next. They relive the tumultuous hour where football fans across the country waited with anticipation as answers remained unclear, how Commissioner Roger Goodell and Head of Football Operations Troy Vincent have handled this week's events & what options the league is considering in regards to resuming the game between the Bills and Bengals.Support Damar Hamlin's Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive GoFundMePlease support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Week 17 Sunday Night Freestyle: Kenny Pickett keeps Steelers alive, Packers embarrass Vikings, Buccaneers clinch NFC South & Eagles fall fast

Rookie Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett led the comeback of the day, with just under two minutes to spare, down four against the rival Baltimore Ravens. Escaping a sack, he fluttered off to the left side of the pocket and fired a laser to running back Najee Harris in the front corner of the end zone to put the Steelers up 3 and keep their playoff hopes alive.Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson and Frank Schwab kick off their regular Sunday night podcast reacting to Pittsburgh's magnificent win and how Mike Tomlin turned around a disastrous season into a magical one. With one more win next week (and a little help), the Steelers could be playoff bound again and Tomlin's streak of winning seasons would remain unbroken.Charles & Frank follow up the Pittsburgh talk breaking down all of the games from Week 17's slate including Green Bay's smackdown of the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers claiming a second straight NFC South title against the Carolina Panthers, the Philadelphia Eagles falling disastrously close to losing the 1-seed in the NFC and a surprisingly peppy Denver Broncos squad playing the Kansas City Chiefs close after firing Nathaniel Hackett. They close out the show burying Carson Wentz and wondering whether Lovie Smith and Kliff Kingsbury will be coaching their final games next Sunday.0:20 Pittsburgh Steelers 16, Baltimore Ravens 139:00 Minnesota Vikings 17, Green Bay Packers 4117:45 Carolina Panthers 24, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3025:50 San Francisco 49ers 37, Las Vegas Raiders 34 (OT)30:55 New Orleans Saints 20, Philadelphia Eagles 1035:00 Miami Dolphins 21, New England Patriots 2339:30 Denver Broncos 24, Kansas City Chiefs 2745:50 New York Jets 6, Seattle Seahawks 2349:10 Los Angeles Rams 10, Los Angeles Chargers 3153:05 Indianapolis Colts 10, New York Giants 3855:40 Chicago Bears 10, Detroit Lions 4158:10 Jacksonville Jaguars 31, Houston Texans 360:55 Cleveland Browns 24, Washington Commanders 1063:45 Arizona Cardinals 19, Atlanta Falcons 20Please support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Derek Carr's benching kicks off the 2023 QB carousel (and why Tom Brady to the Raiders makes sense)

A handful of dire quarterback news came down across the wire on Wednesday, setting up for a surprising end of the regular season and very interesting offseason. First and foremost, the Las Vegas Raiders benched Derek Carr for the remainder of the season and the QB has subsequently stepped away from the team, presumably having played his last snaps in silver and black.Charles Robinson & Jori Epstein kick off this mid-week podcast reacting to this news out of Las Vegas and how it would set up nicely for pending free agent QB Tom Brady to reunite for one last ride with his former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, now the head coach of the Raiders. Also, with Carr most likely done in Vegas, what teams would make sense as a landing spot for the 31-year-old passer? In other QB news, Charles & Jori discuss the latest concussion suffered by Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, what it means for his future and after that, analyze Ron Rivera's announcement that Carson Wentz would return as QB1 for the Washington Commanders.Afterwards, Charles & Jori return to Monday's news of the Denver Broncos firing first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett and what it means for the team going forward. How will the new coaching candidates react to the tumultuous first year under the Walton/Penner ownership group and what sort of information would they need before agreeing to coach Russell Wilson. Finally, they close out the podcast looking ahead to three of this weekend's biggest matchups: the Carolina Panthers traveling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night and the battle between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.0:20 Las Vegas Raiders bench Derek Carr and why Tom Brady signing with Las Vegas next offseason makes a ton of sense22:15 Latest concussion to Tua Tagovailoa & what is next for the Miami Dolphins QB32:30 Washington Commanders elevate Carson Wentz back as starting QB36:10 What candidates will want to know from Denver Broncos ownership after the firing of Nathaniel Hackett55:00 Panthers face Buccaneers for command of the NFC South59:35 Ravens host Steelers on SNF while Lamar's status remains murky62:15 Bills and Bengals face off for short-term bragging rights as best team in the NFLPlease support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Jalen Hurts' injury complicates NFC playoff picture, should Jets trade for Aaron Rodgers next offseason & why Robert Kraft needs to micromanage Bill Belichick

After not being in danger virtually all season, the top seed in the NFC is suddenly at risk. With a shoulder injury sustained by QB Jalen Hurts, likely elevating Gardner Minshew to the starting position for at least this week, the Philadelphia Eagles suddenly find themselves in a high-leverage divisional battle on Saturday afternoon against the playoff-hopeful Dallas Cowboys.Charles Robinson is joined by Yahoo's Charles McDonald & Jori Epstein to discuss what this means for the Eagles, Cowboys and the entire NFC playoff picture now that Hurts is likely to miss at least a week and may not even return until the playoffs in January.Later in the show, the crew breaks down a bunch of interesting Week 16 games and the major storylines to keep track of heading into them. The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets face off on Thursday night, and the spotlight will be on 2021 top picks Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson, the latter of whom is making his second consecutive start after being benched for the now-injured Mike White earlier this season. The Cincinnati Bengals-New England Patriots matchup could mean a lot to Bill Belichick, who is staring down a rare losing season. Charles Robinson explains why missing the playoffs could mean new scrutiny for Belichick under owner Robert Kraft. Finally, the gang closes out the show discussing the fading Seattle Seahawks taking on a defensively stunted Kansas City Chiefs crew and how the legend of Brock Purdy has a chance to grow (or crumble) against the Washington Commanders.0:40 What Jalen Hurts' injury means for Eagles-Cowboys and the NFC playoff race10:45 All eyes on Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson in Jaguars-Jets24:10 While Bengals cruise to playoffs, Kraft needs to have more control over Belichick's decisions coming out of a rocky Patriots season37:55 Seahawks try to keep playoff hopes alive against below-average Chiefs defense46:10 The case against Brock Purdy going into 49ers-CommandersPlease support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Week 15 Sunday Night Freestyle: Patriots' last-second blunder, Vikings' unbelievable comeback & Trevor Lawrence has officially arrived

Week 15 got off to a weird start in the NFL right away. Saturday's triple-header started off with the 10-win Minnesota Vikings instantly falling into a 33-0 hole at home against a struggling Indianapolis Colts team. Well they came back and ended up winning 39-36 and the weekend's games continued to get stranger from there; most notably by the absolutely wild finish in Las Vegas as the Raiders surprised the New England Patriots thanks to a Chandler Jones defensive touchdown on a play in which Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers threw an ill-advised lateral pass as the clock hit double-zeroes.Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab look back at this weekend's wild slate of games including the aforementioned unbelievable finishes in Minneapolis and Las Vegas, the New York Giants essentially punching their playoff ticket with a win over the division rival Washington Commanders, Trevor Lawrence looking like the first overall pick in a surprise win over the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions clawing their way back to .500 thanks to a win over the New York Jets.0:25 New England Patriots 24, Las Vegas Raiders 3011:45 New York Giants 20, Washington Commanders 1215:40 Indianapolis Colts 36, Minnesota Vikings 3920:40 Miami Dolphins 29, Buffalo Bills 3223:50 Dallas Cowboys 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 4030:20 Cincinnati Bengals 34, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2334:25 Detroit Lions 20, New York Jets 1741:15 Kansas City Chiefs 30, Houston Texans 2443:30 Tennessee Titans 14, Los Angeles Chargers 1746:05 Baltimore Ravens 3, Cleveland Browns 1347:50 Philadelphia Eagles 25, Chicago Bears 2050:35 Atlanta Falcons 18, New Orleans Saints 2151:35 Pittsburgh Steelers 24, Carolina Panthers 1653:55 Arizona Cardinals 15, Denver Broncos 24Stay up to date with the latest NFL news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsNFL.Follow Charles @CharlesRobinsonPlease support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez.
