Philemon 1 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and brother Timothy, To Philemon, our dear friend and fellow helper; 2 and to dear sister Apphia, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church in your house: 3 Grace be with you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I give thanks to my God (making mention of you always in my prayers 5 when I hear of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints, 6 so that the fellowship of your faith may be made effective, and that whatever good thing is in you through Christ Jesus may be known). 7 For we have great joy and encouragement in your love because by you, brother, the saints’ hearts are comforted. 8 Therefore, though I am very bold in Christ to command you that which is appropriate, 9 yet for love’s sake, rather, I exhort you (though I am as I am: old, and even now a prisoner for Jesus Christ) 10 I encourage you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my imprisonment 11 (who in the past was unprofitable to you, but is now profitable to both you and me) 12 and whom I have sent again. Their ancient condemnation is not lingering. And their destruction does not slumber. 4 For if God did not spare the angels who had sinned - but cast them down into Hell and delivered them into chains of darkness (to be kept for damnation) - 5 nor spare the old world (save Noah, the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness) - but brought in the Flood upon the world of the ungodly, 6 and turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes (condemning and overthrowing them), and made them an example to those who would live ungodly afterward, 7 and delivered Lot only, overwrought with the unclean conduct of the wicked 8 (for he - being righteous and dwelling among them - tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their unlawful deeds) - 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of trials and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the Day of Judgment; 10 and chiefly those who walk after the flesh (in the lust of uncleanness) and despise government. They are presumptuous, standing in their own conceit, and unafraid to blaspheme God’s glories. 11 Whereas, the angels (who are greater, both in power and might) do not bring slanderous judgment against them before the Lord. 12 But these, as irrational animals (born in nature for captur
