Kyle Meredith With... Dashboard Confessional
Dashboard Confessional singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba joins Kyle Meredith to discuss his new hits collection, The Best Ones Of The Best Ones, and his 20-year history as an emo original. He explains how he quickly found fans and how those fans helped put together the tracklist for his new collection.
On that note, Carrabba also discusses finding rarities, how his lyrics have aged, and his plans to play full album shows on the upcoming tour, particularly 2001's The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most and 2003's A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar.
Later, Carrabba revisits how he rebelled against the industry, and weighs in on being cited as an influence by a generation of Soundcloud rap artists. Kyle Meredith With... Post Animal
Post Animal’s Jake Hirshland gives Kyle Meredith a call to discuss Forward Motion Godyssey. The two dig into the art and importance of mystery, breaking sonic boundaries, allowing themselves to take on multiple genres, and writing with a shared mind. The record was recorded in Big Sky, Montana, and while Hirschland says there was mystical behavior in the wildlife, the ghosts that haunted 2018's When I Think of You in a Castle didn't follow them. Hirshland also speaks about how house music inspired the lead single "Safe Or Not" and previews their upcoming tour with Cage the Elephant. Kyle Meredith With... Triumph
Triumph are currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1989 hits collection, Classics, with a deluxe vinyl edition. Co-founder Mike Levine spoke with Kyle Meredith about going for a higher audio experience and expanding the LP with live tracks from the 1983 Us Festival and their 2008 reunion at the Sweden Rock Festival. The two also discuss getting ahead of punk with their mid-70's garage rocker "Rock & Roll Machine" and finding their highest charting success with "Somebody's Out There" just as the band was falling apart in 1986. The band recently reunited once more for a one-off show that was taped for an upcoming documentary, Triumph: Lay It on the Line, so we'll hear about that night and if those rehearsals could lead to any more shows. Kyle Meredith With... Foy Vance
Foy Vance gives Kyle Meredith a ring to discuss the two albums he released in 2019. With the soul-flavored From Muscle Shoals, Vance talks about working with the legendary Swampers, famous for backing Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and how the entire project only took two days in the studio to complete. Then with To Memphis, we hear about how the Northern Irish songwriter found himself creating Americana, steeped in Baptist hymns and gospel music. It also gave him the opportunity to officially record "Make It Rain", a song of his that was previously only released by Ed Sheeran and covered by H.E.R. Vance also tells us that we might expect another pair of records before 2020 is up. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
