This week Collin and Lucian discuss two pertinent security concerns that hit Ethereum this week. Synthetix was hit by a bug in an oracle on the value to the South Korean Won that netted one trader a billion dollars in an hour (trades were later rolled back). Edgeware's Lockdrop smart contract had an error that put the $290 million in Ether locked in at risk.

Collin and Lucian discuss the Ethereum gateway announced by Cloudflare this week. While it works in a similar way to Infura, this shows how the large developer community is attracting established players. Oxfam rolled out a pilot program that give South Pacific Islanders access to Dai tokens in short notice in case of a natural disaster. Lastly we talk about a EthSites which encodes data directly into the Ethereum blockchain for censorship resistance.

Welcome back, Dr. Sirer on our 50th episode! The Avalanche consensus protocol was released last year by a pseudonymous team of researches "Team Rocket" (no relation to Pokemon, our sources say). Dr. Emin Gün Sirer has been a strong proponent of the protocol and has developed an implementation under his company AVA Labs. With test TPS of 6500 on a realistic test environment, AVA is already showing speeds rivaling VISA on Black Friday. We re-hash Avalanche for the audience and then explain how the AVA implementation works, learning more about open questions such as smart contracts on AVA.
