NFC East Offseason Priorities: Will the Cowboys sign Dak Prescott long-term? Can the Eagles avoid being flat out bad? (Football 2/18)
Ah, the NFC East. The division was a disaster in 2020, which means all four teams have a laundry list of offseason priorities before we get to 2021. On this episode, Will Brinson, Jared Dubin and Cody Benjamin break down the top needs for the Eagles (2:05), Cowboys (14:45), Giants (27:30) and Washington (42:45). First, Philadelphia is a mess and could trade their quarterback at any moment. But what happens after that? The list for Dallas is simpler. Get Dak Prescott figured out and some other things could fall into place. Is a Saquon Barkley extension coming and how much will it cost New York? And WFT...Who's your QB?'Pick Six' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Texans double standard on display + Embracing the age of QB empowerment in the NFL (Football 2/17)
Somehow, a 4-12 team has captured more offseason headlines than any other. The Texans remain a talking point in NFL circles and not for the right reasons. While they probably pulled their best PR move in a while with the amicable release of JJ Watt, they showcased a double standard when it comes to how they've handled Deshaun Watson. On this episode, Will Brinson is joined by Jonathan Jones to break down what's happening in Houston. And now that Watt is a free agent, where could he end up? The bigger prize is Watson, as the guys suggest more teams that could be in the mix, highlighted by the Carolina Panthers. And what happens if Watson isn't dealt? JJ thinks he better be prepared to hold out or skip games after taking this stand. The conversation extends into this current era of playerment empowerment, specifically for star quarterbacks. But don't get it twisted, this doesn't have much to do with Tom Brady's switch last year. This movement has been building for some time now. Carson Wentz was horrible in 2020 and is still likely going to get his trade wish granted, so that tells you all you need to know!'Pick Six' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts. AFC East Offseason Priorities: Do the Dolphins need another QB? Can the Patriots remain competitive? (Football 2/16)
Teams have long been thinking about the offseason and we're now thinking about free agency and the draft as well. Over the next 4 weeks, we'll be tackling offseason priorities for each team, one division at a time. On this episode: the AFC East! Will Brinson, Ryan Wilson and John Breech break down the focal points between now and late April for the Jets (2:45), Dolphins (12:10), Patriots (26:45) and Bills (36:00). First, the Jets have a decision to make at #2 in the draft but could that be influenced by another quarterback currently on the market? It's astounding to say, but the Dolphins might just be in the quarterback hunt after a disappointing rookie season from Tua Tagovailoa. Tom Brady won the "who's more important" battle over Bill Belichick in 2020, but what's the path for New England to re-enter the contender discussion in 2021? Buffalo is coming off one of their best campaigns in decades and their attention should be on retaining their nucleus and possibly giving Josh Allen a big payday. NFL Mock Draft Monday 1.0: Breaking down Trevor Lawrence and the rest of the quarterbacks (Football 2/15)
Welcome to draft season! Each Monday over the next few months, the Pick Six feed will be dedicated to draft content and mock drafts (with plenty of mid-week coverage as well). We start things today with a set-up of things to come. Trevor Lawrence is the blatantly obvious #1 overall selection as Ryan Wilson details what makes him such a great prospect. Then, we shift focus to the rest of the quarterback class and Wilson's unique rankings. Who's the 2nd-best QB behind Lawrence? Is it Justin Fields, Zach Wilson Mac Jones or even Trey Lance? Quarterbacks tend to dominate the pre-draft discussion, so we set the table here but will cover everything you need to know in the coming weeks regarding the 2021 NFL Draft. JJ Watt and the Texans have decided to mutually part ways after 10 seasons. Watt now hits the open market with plenty of potential suitors. On this emergency episode, Will Brinson and John Breech break down the future Hall of Famer's tenure in Houston and what could be next as he tries to add a ring to his resume. The Steelers are an obvious landing spot with both of his brothers already on the team, but a lot of other organizations would love to add Watt. 2021 NFL Offseason Preview: Futures for Carson Wentz, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott (Football 2/12)
The 2020 NFL season ended just a few days ago, but we're already starting to turn our attention to 2021. It promises to be an eventful one with multiple star quarterbacks presumably on the move. On this episode, Ryan Wilson and John Breech set the table for what to expect in the coming months. Last year, the league calendar was hit by COVID-19, impacting the draft, offseason workouts, the preseason and more. Will we get some sense of normalcy this year? Breech shares his thoughts on the salary cap and the probable 17-game season. Yes, we said we're looking ahead but we had to briefly look back at the epic Bucs' Super Bowl parade. Then, the guys shift their attention to player movement as Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson have yet to be traded. And we have to welcome a new name to the mix. Could Russell Wilson legitimately be available? Let's not forget about Dak Prescott who leads a packed free agency class. This is just the beginning of our offseason coverage!'Pick Six' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts. Way-too-early 2021 NFL Power Rankings + Bucs and Brady celebrate with Super Bowl Boat Parade (Football 2/11)
The Bucs continued their Super Bowl celebration with a boat parade through Tampa on Wednesday and let's just say that the team, and especially Tom Brady, enjoyed themselves. We got to see TB12 in rare form (4:55). Also in rare form - Will Brinson and Tyler Sullivan on this episode. Sully joined us to share his thoughts on his favorite team's former quarterback capturing another Lombardi Trophy (that he had no issue tossing across the water). There's reason to be confident, but the level of confidence the Bus are showing seems unique. That doesn't deter Tyler from ranking them #1 in his way-too-early 2021 NFL Power Rankings. Who follows the champs? Listen to find out. Here's a hint though: it's not the team they just beat in the Super Bowl. The guys cover Sully's Top 5 teams (14:00) and Bottom 5 (35:30) teams as we barely crack mid-February and are 7 months from real football again. But it's the NFL, so never too early to look ahead. Remembering Marty Schottenheimer, Russell Wilson frustrated with Seahawks, Analyzing the future for the Bucs & Chiefs (Football 2/10)
Tuesday was a sad one in the NFL as one of the league's all-time winningest coaches, Marty Schottenheimer, passed away at the age of 77. Will Brinson spends a few moments remembering the coach famous for Marty Ball (0:00). Then, he welcomes on Jared Dubin to discuss another unhappy quarterback. Russell Wilson is frustrated with the Seahawks (as reported by our own Jason La Canfora). Russ has reason to be upset but what will ultimately get accomplished? Brinson and Dubin break down the future in Seattle (6:00). Next, they turn their attention to what's next for the two teams that just played in the Super Bowl. The Bucs have crucial free agents on both sides of the ball, as the guys examine who Tampa Bay should prioritize (20:00). The Chiefs are in better shape in terms of free agency and still have Patrick Mahomes for the next decade, so it's no surprise they are the early favorite to win Super Bowl LVI (32;30).
