Why Do All Diets End Up Failing? Understanding The Difference Between Diets and Nutrition

Many of us try and follow diets in the short term, but it ends up failing us and doesn’t provide a sustainable way to live your life. Why is this? In this episode I break down the differences between “diet” and “nutrition.” I share my approach to nutrition in my practice and how I coach my athletes and clients. The bottom line is understanding how nutrition is integrated and interconnected with every aspect of your life. When you are aware of this holistic perspective of nutrition you will start to improve your nutrition and live healthier, happier, while performing better in life. My 3 fundamental nutrition concepts at the end of the episode are:1.     Everything in nutrition exists on a spectrum. It’s not black and white.2.     Add more options, don’t restrict options.3.     Eliminate judgement of yourself and others.Stay tuned for more nutrition tips in upcoming episodes that will improve the quality of your life!Did you enjoy this episode? Please subscribe and leave a review on:AppleSpotifyGooglePandoraiHeartRadio

Elevate Your Performance With a Virtuous Cycle

How do we create a lifestyle that helps us to elevate our performance in everything that we do?  What influences and determines our performance? The reality is that everything we do is interconnected with all aspects of life and creates a cumulative effect on the level of our performance. When lifestyle actions don’t work cooperatively together, we can easily get stuck in a vicious circle and feel the snowball effect of declining performance. However, what we want to do is get everything working in harmony to create a virtuous circle that elevates our performance in all of our activities. Dr. Takeshi Suzuki, R-body Project Founder, On Cultural Similarities and Differences in Japan and the Effects on Performance

In this episode, Andrew shares a discussion with Dr. Takeshi Suzuki, owner of R-Body Project in Tokyo, Japan.  Dr. Suzuki is a highly renowned athletic trainer who holds a wealth of knowledge on rehabilitation and training people of all levels.  Born in Japan, he got his education in athletic training from Washington State University.  Upon returning to Japan after his education, he began working with the Japanese Olympic athletes, particularly for the winter Olympics.  He is currently on the medical advisory board for the 2020 Japan Olympics.  His clinic, the R-Body Project, caters to everyone from athletes to the general public, focusing on teaching proper movement, exercise, and enhancing human performance. This interview highlights the cultural aspects of training in the USA versus training in Japan.  There will always be some cultural aspects that influence how people in different countries train and condition.  Listen in on this delightful interview with two professionals of very similar backgrounds and occupations, both from different parts of the world.  They both agree on the same philosophy, the philosophy that the most important part about exercise is happiness.  Exercise isn’t about losing weight.  Exercise is about fundamental happiness, and losing weight is a benefit that goes along with it.  Enjoy the exchange of knowledge in this episode by these two athletic trainers, Andrew and Dr. Takeshi Suzuki.   Website: https://r-body.com/Instagram: @rbody.projectFacebook: @RbodyDid you enjoy this episode? Please subscribe and leave a review on:AppleSpotifyGooglePandoraiHeartRadio
