Soteriology 101 w/ Dr. Leighton Flowers

Dr. Kurt Jaros joins the hosts to discuss the historic development of Semi-Pelagianism. They explore topics including the need for divine aid in salvation, the Pelagian controversy, and the association of Semi-Pelagianism with Calvinist interpretation. They also highlight the importance of constructive communication, explore theological debates throughout history, and emphasize personal devotion and evangelism.

The podcast explores topics such as total inability in response to the gospel, different views on regeneration including Calvinism, classical Arminianism, and provisionism, the message of the Bible focusing on forgiveness and eternal life, dismantling psychological walls and overcoming obstacles with the help of the Holy Spirit, God's drawing power in enabling belief in the Gospel, temporary faith, factions within Christianity, and the use of labels, and a theological discussion using an analogy from the Lord of the Rings.

Dr. Leighton Flowers discusses the contradiction surrounding total moral inability in Calvinism and presents sermons by John MacArthur that contradict this idea. The podcast explores Calvinism's view on sinners' inability to acknowledge God, the role of Satan in a Calvinistic worldview, God's provision and moral inability, and the idea of reconciliation and responsibility in the gospel.

The podcast discusses the concept of total inability and challenges Calvinist and Armenian views on the condition of the heart and ability to believe. It explores the role of the Holy Spirit in conveying God's message, debates the exegetical objection to provisionism, and delves into the topic of propensity to sin. James White tweeted a post yesterday that implied Clement of Rome's letter to Corinth demonstrated a "Calvinistic" understanding of election. Was Clement of Rome a Calvinist because he used the word "elect" a lot?
