Everyday Disciples
Everyday Disciples is a podcast for people learning what it means to follow Jesus daily. Listen in as we discuss theology, biblical studies, community, cultural issues, and much more.
Hosts James and Carly Pruch live in Lincoln, NE, with their four kids. They've served in both local churches and campus ministries. More than anything, they desire to know and follow the real Jesus we see in the Scriptures and help others do the same.

Singing with Zechariah
In our second Advent episode we dig into Zechariah's song in Luke 1:67-75 and think about what it means when God comes to town. We talk about Advent being the end of vague spirituality, the end of self help, and the end of fear. We also address the controversial question of whether or not all dogs will go to heaven. Thanks for listening!

Singing with Mary
Our next four episodes will focus on Advent, the time of year Christians reflect on Jesus' first coming and anticipate his second coming. In this episode, we talk about what Advent is and why you shouldn't feel pressure to make it perfect for you and/or your family. Then we get into Mary's song in Luke 1:46-55. Mary shows us that God's redemption has come in a way that no one could expect, and he is about to fulfill all the hope of Israel in her baby boy.

Searching for Biblical Community
WE ARE BACK. After a long hiatus, we're up and running with our last episode in our series on how to grow as disciples. In this show, we talk about where community comes from and why it's important. We also talk about what happens when we want community to be a certain thing and find out it is definitely NOT that thing. We also dangerously broach the topic of why your community shouldn't be a bunch of people who share the same political opinions as you do. Enjoy the show.

Praying for the Little Things
Does God really care about all kinds of prayer? Even the little things--the physical and non-spiritual things? In this episode, we share a few passages that show God not only cares about the little things but even commands us to pray for them. We also tell some stories from our life about how God has answered prayers for everyday things.

Is Prayer as Formal and Complicated as We Think?
Is prayer as complicated as we think? Does it always have to be a formal, scheduled time where you sit down for an hour with God? Or can it be more conversational and "as you go" about your day? What do you do when you don't know what to say? How can God's word transform your prayer life? We get to these issues and more in the third episode in our series on How to Grow as a Disciple.

How to (and not to) Read the Bible
How do you grow as a disciple of Jesus? It's a combination of Scripture, Prayer, and Community. Of course that's not everything, but without doing these things by God's grace, we will not become more like Jesus. In this episode, we start with Scripture and tackle how to and how not to read the Bible. Ultimately, the Bible is not about us, but it is for us. It's about God and what he is doing.

Our Heart in the Battle Against Racism
In this episode, we share about what we are processing and learning as we think about racism in our country. Our heart in this episode is to encourage people who follow Jesus to stand as Kingdom citizens over against any political ideology or affiliation. As disciples of Jesus, we want to advocate for black people in our country and it starts with a humble, empathetic posture.
