Radio Free Mormon gives us a short update on where he is on the records appeal for the un-redaction of McKenna Denson’s police report as well as the audio from the audio interview by police of Joseph Bishop

RFM takes issue with the Logical Fallacies, Deceptiveness, and Blatant Lies by LDS Apologist Dan Peterson in his article “Defending the Faith: The supposed scandal of multiple First Vision accounts”.  In the article Daniel Peterson goes to great lengths to frame the public awareness of the multiple first vision accounts in a faithful context.  Sadly in order to do so, Dan must avoid telling people the problematic details and even go so far as to lie about the history of how and why the 1832 account was obscured for so long.  RFM even goes to show using both a personal interaction with Daniel as well as public audio from Elder Holland that obfuscation and dishonesty is par for the course when trying to defend the Church using apologetics. Radio Free Mormon updates us on his search for more fully un-redacted records on the Joseph Bishop Sex Abuse scandal updates us on his appeal to BYU Chief of Police Larry Stott.  The main focus of this episode centers around BYU’s concerted effort to play the official-ness of their Police Department both ways.    When it plays in BYU’s favor, they like to argue they are an extension of the government and when it hurts them, they like to claim to not be a government agency.  As a judge seems to recently indicate when dealing with BYU police on the very issue of their compliance with GRAMA laws…. You can’t have your cake and eat it too!!!! RFM todays tackles the awareness of LDS Leaders that the Church is losing members in a mass apostacy.  In this part 2 episode RFM how much LDS leaders know that Mormonism is no longer growing.  Using Marlin Jenson’s statement that “The fifteen men really do know, and they really care. And they realize that maybe since Kirtland, we never have had a period of, I’ll call it apostasy, like we’re having right now; largely over these issues. We do have another initiative that we have called, “Answers to Gospel Questions”. We are trying to figure out exactly what channels to deliver it in and exactly what format to put it in. But we want to have a place where people can go. We have hired someone that’s in charge of search engine optimization. We realize that people get their information basically from Google. They don’t come to LDS.org. If they get there, it’s through Google. So, we are trying to create an offering that will address these issues and be available for the public at large and to the church leaders, because many of them don’t have answers either. It can be very disappointing to church members. And, for people who are losing their faith, or who have lost it, we hope to regain to the church.” and then showing all the reactions of various LDS leaders in followup.
