Ta’u Pupu’a

When an injury ended his professional football career, Ta'u Pupu'a committed to pursuing his love of music. Moving to New York without a firm plan, Ta’u formed a connection with renowned opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa that led him to Julliard and a career that has taken him around the world. The hardest part of his journey, recreating his life and career, he says, was “Letting one go. Pooja Goel

“How do you know you’re good enough to do the thing that you are desiring?” Dr. Pooja Goel asked. She was told that “if there’s even the tiniest voice inside telling you to do it, just know that that voice, it won’t lead you astray, and to start to listen to it, nourish it.” Even as competing interests called to her, Pooja Goel stuck to her long sought “expected” plan to become a doctor. However, she felt a tug toward change that continued to grow. In March 2020, Pooja began work on her own clean beauty business, which is designed around culture and inclusivity. Pooja sees clean beauty as a continued tie to “preventative medicine” in a way - helping people and making a difference. Cedric King

“Just take one step. Just one step. That’s all you need to do” says Retired Master Sergeant Cedric King. He’s used that philosophy to finish five Boston Marathons, two New York City Marathons, several half-Ironman triathlons, and many other challenges… all as a double amputee. King lost his legs in 2012 after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan. That could have been his breaking point, but, he says, he made the choice to make it his “making point.” This decorated Army veteran’s courage, determination and resiliency will inspire you. His story will make you think long and hard about what you think you can and can’t do with your life.
