Ashley Edith is on a mission to normalize womb wisdom and yoni steaming. Her path in this lifestyle started because she suffered painful and debilitating periods that left her fainting, nauseous and calling in sick frequently. 11. How to Bring Back a Missing Period with Lindsey Lusson
A missing period is not normal. It is an indication of an underlying issue, and a condition that affects your long term health. And despite what your doctor may have told you, the root cause is definitely NOT fixed by taking birth control! Hypothalamic Amenorrhea, which is when your period goes missing for several months, IS something that can be treated with diet and lifestyle changes (even if you're a professional athlete!)
Lindsey Lusson is Registered Dietitian who specializes in disordered eating and infertility. You might know her as food.freedom.fertility on IG, where she educates about Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (HA) or period loss related to over exercise and under eating. She has helped over 100 women recover natural cycles, get pregnant, and heal their relationship with food and exercise along the way.
We discuss:
Lindsey's personal journey with period loss, recovery, and three healthy pregnancies!
What is Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
What are the signs and symptoms of HA (besides a missing period)
How the diets we've been led to believe are "healthy" (like Keto, Intermittent Fasting, Vegan/Vegetarian, Low Carb, Low Fat, etc.) are actually not healthy for women and can lead to HA and lack of ovulation
Why taking birth control doesn't actually solve HA or bring back a missing period
Why it's so important for your health to get your period every month
Is HA always only associated with being too thin, or can you be overweight with HA?
What are the long term health consequences from missing your period and not producing enough hormones
How to know if you're eating enough
Is it possible to be a professional athlete and still maintain a healthy period?
How to deal with constant, obsessive thoughts around food and healthy eating

10: Non-penetrative Sex Activities for Your Fertile Window with Cat, Founder of UnGIRL
Oftentimes the pushback I hear about the Fertility Awareness Method is that it's unrealistic because you have to remain abstinent during the days you are fertile if you want to avoid pregnancy. But that doesn't have to mean NO sex or orgasms! There are plenty of fun, safe, orgasmic activities you can do by yourself or with your partner during your fertile window to avoid pregnancy and still experience lots of pleasure.
To talk about what these are, I brought on Cat Lygate, Sex & Pleasure Educator, Female Empowerment Coach, and Founder of UnGIRL. UnGIRL is an amazing platform on Instagram (over 59K!) that educates everyone about sex and pleasure in an inclusive, empowering way. There's also a blog, workshops, and courses on her website.
We discuss:
Non-penetrative (aka no sperm in the vagina) sex activities you can do during your fertile window to have fun without the fear!
Sex toys and tips for beginners
How to start a conversation with your partner about wanting to try new things in the bedroom
Our thoughts on guys who refuse to wear condoms or take any part in pregnancy prevention

9. How Toxins Are Impacting Your Hormones and What to Do About It with Nika Lawrie
The average woman is exposed to 168 unique chemicals a day, from every day products like cosmetics, perfume, personal care products, cleaning products, what's in our food and water, and more. Several of these chemicals are known carcinogens, and many of them have never actually been tested for safety in humans. And we wonder why so many women AND men struggle with infertility and hormone imbalance issues, and other chronic diseases? These chemicals we're exposed to daily have a major impact.
But our bodies are resilient and there ARE things we can do to reduce our toxic load. That's why I brought on Nika Lawrie, a Multi-Certified Functional and Integrative Nutrition Practitioner, a Consumer Health and Sustainability Consultant specializing in Environmental Toxins, and CEO of Moringa Health + Wellness, LLC a 360° fully immersive brand designed to help support, educate, and counsel women preparing for pregnancy, pregnant, and post-pregnancy mothers to feel great while raising healthy and environmentally conscious children from day one.
We discuss:
Mind blowing facts and statistics about toxins in our every day products
What does the "generally regarded as safe" label actually mean?
How companies get away with hiding a ton of chemicals in our food and products
How these toxins disrupt the function of our hormones and lead to things like infertility and fibroids
What are some initial steps we can take to start to reduce our exposure to these toxins?
Tools and resources you can use to find clean products

8. Cycle Syncing Your Exercise with Laura Torbett
What does inability to lose weight, struggling to get pregnant, PMS/period pain, and lack of motivation around exercise all have in common?
You're not working out in a way that supports your physiology as a woman!
The way we've been brought up to lose weight, gain weight, maintain weight, and work out all supports the MALE body and has been applied to us as "small men."
But we're not small men. Our hormones and metabolism changes throughout the phases of our menstrual cycle, and if you're not adapting your movement to support each phase, it leads to the problems mentioned above.
So I brought on Laura Torbett, the Creator of the Lunae Collective, a roadmap of phasic workouts for menstruators. Laura is a movement enthusiast whose mission supports women from menarche to menopause with cycle-friendly movement practices.
We discuss:
The benefits of cycle syncing your exercise
The science behind how syncing your movement with your cycle helps reduce PMS and period pain
Can it help you lose weight?
Why most of what we've been taught about exercise (and working out fasted!) is SO wrong for the female body
How to workout for each phase of your cycle and how to fuel yourself
Why workouts over 30min can lead to weight GAIN for women
How to prep and take care of your body for longer workouts
More about Lunae Collective to take the guess work out of working out with your cycle!

7. Using Herbs for Pregnancy Release with Qiddist Ashe
When it comes to preventing pregnancy and releasing undesired pregnancies, we have more options than we've been led to believe. Options that have been erased by the patriarchy but that our matriarchal ancestors knew well. In this conversation, we offer these other options of how you can have agency over your own body regardless of what the government decides, or what your doctor tells you is the only way. We're talking about radical body literacy, and employing herbal allies to aid in the prevention and release of pregnancy.
Qiddist Ashe is a medicine woman and female health educator who holds space for transformation as we cultivate the inner and outer resources we need to live fully in our power. She is the founder and creatrix of The Womb Room, an online community for female health & spiritual sovereignty. Informed by her maternal lineage of Ethiopian midwives and her own work in authentic midwifery, functional health, herbalism, somatics, and spiritual sovereignty, Qiddist merges the science and the spirit of female health, orienting to all the ways we can reclaim agency and responsibility for our bodies and our lives.
We discuss:
What sovereignty means in regards to our wombs and bodies
The difference between true reproductive freedom/choice, and the artificial freedom we've been supposedly "given" by authorities
The differences between how hormonal contraceptives, emergency contraceptives, and plant allies work in the body to prevent pregnancy
The difference between implantation and conception: you don't get pregnant immediately once sperm fertilizes an egg
You got sperm in your vagina..you don't want to be pregnant..what do you do? An example protocol with herbal allies
The importance of cultivating a relationship with herbs rather than "taking" them like a pill, and how to do this
Initial steps you can take to cultivate reproductive sovereignty

5: Intro to Angel Investing for Women with Carli Sapir, Founder of Amboy Street Ventures
I know, we usually talk about periods, hormones and wombs around here, so you might be wondering..investing?! What's going on Dana.
Only 2% of all venture capital funding for start ups in 2021 went to female-founded start-ups...even less so in the women's health (femtech) and sextech space. That means less products and services made by women and minorities, for women and minorities are being brought to market.
Many women have the money to invest, but lack the knowledge or confidence to do so. So our solution here is to provide more women and minorities with education and resources to learn more about investing so they can use their dollars to create huge impact and change.
I'm joined by Carli Sapir, Founding Partner of Amboy Street Ventures, a fund that invests in Women's Health Technology and Sexual Health Technology start ups. She is also the Founder of the Female Founded Club (FFC), a global platform that introduces VC investors to high-quality female founded startups.
We talk about:
Breaking down jargon in the investing space..what the heck is "seed funding" and "venture capitalist" and "angel investor"?
Why is there so little funding in female founders?
Why are there so few female investors and female fund managers?
Carli's path from engineering to running an investment fund
Carli's own health struggles that led to her passion in femtech and sextech
What it's like to be one of the very few female fund managers in the nation
What's the benefit of investing in for-profit businesses as opposed to non-profits
What's the minimum you need to be an angel investor..do you have to be a millionaire?
What are the risks and rewards of being an angel investor?
A few cool start ups Carli's fund invested in
