#623: Amelia Davis owner and manager of Jim Marshall Photography LLC

Today we celebrate the work of the legendary Rock n Roll Photographer Mr Jim Marshall with my guest Amelia Davis. Amelia is the owner and manager of Jim Marshall Photography LLC. Amelia stops by the show to talk all about the new fantastic documentary on Jim called Show Me The Picture The Story Of Jim Marshall. You name the artist and Jim has the most Iconic photo of them ever. I loved this film and it was an honor to talk to Amelia. This episode is brought to you by Rolling Stone 500 In the mid-2000s, few people were more famous than Britney Spears. But as she began to stumble in her personal life, the price of the public's fascination was more than just a few nasty late-night jokes. Paparazzi swarmed Spears' home and her family, turning the singer into a tabloid punching bag. But when you're a platinum-selling pop princess, the show goes on even when you desperately need an intermission. In the midst of madness, Spears began recording an album that would become her defining statement, 2007's Blackout. Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums revisits the album at a time when Spears' music — and the raw treatment she received from the public and the press — is being revisited and rethought in a big way. Collaborators and friends, from the A&R rep who was one of Spears' closest allies to the producers who crafted visceral hits like "Piece of Me," tell the story of how Spears' made classic songs in the eye of a hurricane. The result was an album that stood as a middle finger to Spears' critics and established a dark, danceable sound that influenced pop for years to come. Be sure to tune in on Amazon Music. #617: Tom Vitale / Author of "In The Weeds - Around The World and Behind The Scenes with Anthony Bourdain

Today on episode 617 of Let There Be Talk my guest is Tom Vitale, author of "In The Weeds - Around The World and Behind The Scenes with Anthony Bourdain. In the nearly two years since Anthony Bourdain's death, no one else has come close to filling the void he left. His passion for and genuine curiosity about the people and cultures he visited made the world feel smaller and more connected. Despite his affable, confident, and trademark snarky TV persona, the real Tony was intensely private, deeply conflicted about his fame, and an enigma even to those close to him. Tony's devoted crew knew him best, and no one else had a front-row seat for as long as his director and producer, Tom Vitale. Over the course of more than a decade traveling together, Tony became a boss, a friend, a hero and, sometimes, a tormentor. In the Weeds takes readers behind the scenes to reveal not just the insanity that went into filming in some of the most far-flung and volatile parts of the world, but what Tony was like unedited and off-camera. From the outside, the job looked like an all-expenses-paid adventure to places like Borneo, Vietnam, Iran, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Libya. What happened off-camera was far more interesting than what made it to air. The more things went wrong, the better it was for the show. Fortunately, everything fell apart constantly. Tune in and hear these amazing stories and make sure you buy this incredible book. Don't forget to subscribe to my podcast on iTunes Candles Lit my Friends. DDR
