Endometriosis is a condition that an estimated that 155,000 women in Ireland are affected by. This condition has a massive impact on women as it decreases quality of life due to severe pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and infertility. Some individuals with endometriosis experience debilitating pain that prevents them from going to work or school. In Ireland, the government has committed to a national endometriosis framework and endometriosis hubs around the country, but nothing has been published yet. Because of a combination of the lack of endometriosis services in Ireland, lengthy waiting lists, and the cost of going private is forcing women to seek treatment overseas. Sophie King, fitness instructor and who has endometriosis joined Pat Kenny on the show to discuss.
