Interview with EVAN GIIA (EVAN GIIA Returns!)

We had the pleasure of interviewing EVAN GIIA about her journey in music and upcoming performance at M3F Fest over Zoom video! M3F Fest, North America's most celebrated non-profit music festival, has announced the lineup for the highly-anticipated 2023 edition at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix, Arizona from March 3-4. M3F donates 100% of festival proceeds to charity with a record $1.2 million donated last year and $4.4 million donated since 2004. Beyond the lineup, M3F has also announced the launch of its new M3F Fund. Expanding on their current charity focus, the festival has opened up funding to the public by offering an open application to non-profit or 501(c)(3) organizations that have clear objectives and a measurable way to assess progress. All organizations must submit a detailed plan of the requested amount of funding and how it will be allocated and a project timeline. The festival prioritizes funding related to the four primary pillars of its organization, which are Community, Education, Arts, and Environment. This expanded approach also provides more transparency to attendees with an updated process that requires organizations to provide a more detailed list of how they intend to use the funds, following up throughout the year to check in on where donations went to and creating a short video that details how the money was spent once. Attendees also play a key role in the M3F Fund. When fans buy a ticket to have a great time with their friends, they are also giving back to the community around them. M3F's lineup will once again bring together an eclectic group of artists across the worlds of indie, pop, R&B, electronic, and more. This includes the beloved Grammy-nominated vocalist Maggie Rogers, forward-thinking English beatmaker and producer Jamie xx, French electronic duo Polo & Pan, Detroit singer Quinn XCII, and the off-kilter sounds of the multi-talented Toro y Moi. Additional highlights include and German disco & house producer Purple Disco Machine, Mom + Pop signee Ashe, Nashville indie-rockers COIN, Connecticut pop and electronic singer Chelsea Cutler, the addicting sounds of Canadian indie favorites Peach Pit, Australian electronic producer Hayden James, Brit Awards "Best Dance Act" winner Becky Hill, and much more. Originally spawned as a team-building exercise for its producers, Wespac Construction, the festival acts as a philanthropic flagship for the City of Phoenix. The 2022 edition of M3F raised 1.2 million for charity, which doubled the amount of their previous edition in 2020. This included donations to organizations like the Music Therapy Program from Phoenix Children's Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, Backline, Artist Advocacy Foundation, United Way, Arizona Helping Hands, Saving Amy, and more. M3F also partnered with Tonic to put on a block party in Phoenix to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event was free and featured music from Whethan, Surf Mesa, and thom.ko. This partnership with Tonic will see them donate $1 from every can sold in the state of Arizona during October to the Wendt Family Breast Cancer Program at St. Joseph's. Donations will ensure community members have access to the best breast cancer care possible, allowing more patients to receive life-saving treatment. Beyond music and charity, M3F also focuses its attention on sustainability with over 80% of waste being recycled each year. Guests can also enjoy an amazing variety of food and beverage offerings, art installations, and activities with more details to be announced ahead of M3F. Tickets for M3F are now on sale and can be purchased through their official website. We want to hear from you! Interview with Hillary Reese

We had the pleasure of interviewing Hillary Reese over Zoom video! Singer-songwriter Hillary Reese recently released her new single "Beautiful Mistake" just before Valentine's Day! Written by Jimmy Ritchey (George Strait's "I Gotta Get to You" and "Twang,' Jake Owen's "The One That Got Away" and "Don't Think I Can't Love You") and produced by former Little Texas Member Jeff Huskins, "Beautiful Mistake" is a bittersweet ballad that reflects on a lost love. At only 16-years-old, the rawness and sincerity in Hillary's voice capture the maturity of the introspective song. From the heart of Mississippi, Hillary has a sound all her own that connects across generations of fans and genres. Her vocals and lyrics offer a balance between the charm of a southern belle and the ferocity of a steel magnolia. At only 8-years-old, she emerged on the music scene through a series of viral Facebook videos, which fast-tracked to millions of views and a loyal following of over 300,000 fans. Hillary quickly found herself traveling frequently to Nashville where she has collaborated with industry heavyweights including Dolly Parton's producer, Kent Wells, and Jeff Huskins, who also produced her latest single, "All the Good Ones are Crazy." Written by Hillary, Josh Courson and Jason Hamor, "All the Good Ones are Crazy" was released in August of 2022 along with a video that has amassed over 227,000 views. We want to hear from you! Interview with Amber Run

We had the pleasure of interviewing Amber Run over Zoom video! London's introspective indie rock trio Amber Run recently released their fourth studio album, 'How To Be Human'. The album title is a nod to the wish of a human guide book that could teach us how to be happy, how to be content, how to find peace within the world and, crucially, within ourselves. What this album emulates is exactly that. In celebration of the 13 track album, the band also released 'The Hurt (Act III)' - the final part of a trilogy of EPs that doubles as an expansive collection of songs that helped create the upcoming album. The track ''Hurt'' has landed on Spotify's The Indie List, All New Rock, New Music Friday UK, Indie Brandneu, New Music Friday BE and New Music Friday NL in addition to Apple Music's New In Alternative and New In Rock playlists. ABOUT AMBER RUN Amber Run - consisting of frontman/guitarist Joe Keogh, bassist Tomas Sperring and keyboard player Henry Wyeth - have managed not just to continue but to thrive on their own terms through making music together. They released their debut album '5AM' in 2014 via RCA, where they built lasting relationships with a fanbase who had found relatability in their deeply moving songwriting. On their second & third LP 'For A Moment, I Was Lost' and 'Philophobia', the band continued building their fanbase organically, inviting open dialogues with songs that often cut to the quick of life's more difficult moments. Throughout all of this, their early 2014 single 'I Found,' has taken on a life of its own; currently sitting at a gargantuan 300 million Spotify plays, it's been adopted by a new generation of fans on TikTok where more than half a million people have created videos inspired by the track. Offline, the band recently sold out their first Europe and North American tour dates, culminating in their biggest shows to date including London's Roundhouse before signing to TRIPEL for their, 'How To Be Human' album. Interview with CARYS

We had the pleasure of interviewing CARYS over Zoom video! Following her anthemic single "Recovering People Pleaser," pop singer CARYS wraps this Aquarius season up with her empowering and healing new single "Aquarius" – out now! Produced by Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen, Tyler Shaw), the Avril inspired track is about growing out of a relationship and trying to move on. In the astrology calendar, last year entered the Age of Aquarius, which means it's a time to relinquish the old ways and harness in the new. "Age of Aquarius" is repeated throughout the track, in which CARYS reflects this exact sentiment. In her own words, she explains the inspiration of the single saying: "When I wrote this track I was going through an Avril phase and constantly had Let Go & The Best Damn Thing on repeat and inspired me to put how I've been feeling into song. I was growing out of certain relationships and wanted to move on but without all the guilt! Aquarius' are known for being kind but also once we've decided there's no turning back. I needed to find a way just to move on." CARYS – the moniker of rising pop artist Aviva Mongillo, has quickly become an exciting artist to watch. Her hit "Princesses Don't Cry" became a viral sensation that has since gone Gold in Canada & Brazil, Platinum in India and it continues to rack up millions of streams each week. She has since gone on to release her 2020 debut EP To Anyone Like Me. At the end of 2022, CARYS returned to release brand new music with "Psychic" & Recovering People Please" which see's her entering a new era of song writing. While her earlier music was raw, impulsive, and almost stream-of-consciousness in nature, she's started bringing intention into her work in a whole new way. Her newest singles reflect the internal changes she's gone through. The tracks retain her classic empowering pop sensibilities, but with a maturity and sophistication that's far beyond her years – with themes of growth, change, and moving past the need for validation, her gift for speaking to the collective anxieties of a generation of young people is as sharp as ever. Interview with Fox Stevenson

We had the pleasure of interviewing Fox Stevenson over Zoom video! Fox Stevenson is one-part electronic music producer and one-part singer/songwriter. All parts assembled he's a true powerhouse of talent who's carved out his own unique sound that melds dance music with pop-punk flair. Fox kicks off his 2023 with his new nine-track 'Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite EP,' available now via Pilot Records. Flowing melodies over bopping beats decry people who refuse to adhere to values or make a positive difference on the EP's final single, 'Deja Vu.' After straddling the fine line between dance music and pop-rock, 'Deja Vu' is unapologetically poppy and undeniably catchy. "I've been excited about the idea of making stuff at an intersection between my favorite east coast hip hop groups like tribe called quest, and more hooky dance music, maybe throwing a little beck in there, ended up with a song about repetitive behavior," Fox says. Unhindered by the constraints of a particular genre, Fox Stevenson (formerly "Stan SB") pushes against imposed limitations. Growing up in an artistic environment, with a musician, writer, and theater director for a father, Fox didn't need much prodding to explore art from the inside out. Laying down his tracks from scratch, he will also write and perform his own vocals. As a live musician, he is unafraid to pick up the guitar, drums, and bass, or mix a live DJ set on stage. The casual listener is immediately struck by the emotional pitch and complex narrative structures of his songs. Most dance song lyrics are throwaway, but Fox's tracks are genuine, space-creating oddities of a new generation. They are indebted to the old singer-songwriters of the past, while also challenging traditional expectations for beat-based, electronic music. In a world that often prefers we choose 'one or the other', Fox is one of the few willing to balance and create a free-flowing tri-force of dance, pop, and rock in his music. Interview with Courtney Paige Nelson

We had the pleasure of interviewing Courtney Paige Nelson over Zoom video! Courtney Paige Nelson – who took a bit of an unconventional path to music – is revealing herself through her craft in way that perhaps no other emerging female artist is. Her new single, "1-800-broke-my-heart", is modern and edgy, complete with a memorable hook, alt-pop production and impassioned vocals. From Courtney about the track - "After a terrible breakup which resulted in me finding out my ex was cheating on me with his coworker, I got extremely depressed and wrote this song telling my side of the story since I never got a chance to speak my piece. There wasn't any closure for me so it was priority to write something that would help decompress the giant knot in my chest. I wanted to be as vulnerable as possible when writing this song, so when it is released, I felt like I was relieved instead of feeling like I should've been more open. There was a lot of this story that I think many can relate to as a breakup/situationship anthem. I say anthem because I want it to empower people, not make them dwell on negative emotions with whatever they are going through. There are so many sad songs in the world, and I love me a good sad song. But this time I needed something to yell driving down the freeway with my middle finger in the air." San Francisco born and raised singer/songwriter Courtney Paige Nelson has carved her place in the music world. Just in the past year, she has amassed over three million streams as an independent artist. Most recently, Grammy nominated DJ Moore Kismet released their debut album UNIVERSE, spotlighting the song "See You Go" which Courtney wrote and performed on. Gaining 30+ editorial playlists, including New Music Friday in 12 countries, trending on Sirius XM radio, hitting 49 Apple charts, and holding the top 50 on Beatport for over a month. She performed "See You Go" live at HARD festival in Los Angeles as a special guest of Moore Kismet for 10,000 people. We want to hear from you! Interview with GLU

Together with Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Michael Shuman over Zoom video! GRAMMY-nominated musician and multi-instrumentalist Michael Shuman is GLU. The frontman of Mini Mansions and member of Queens of the Stone Age is showing another side of himself with his independent debut EP, MY DEMONS out February 24th. Today's title track release features Phantogram's Sarah Barthel and explores how childhood traumas continue to seep into adult life. Emotional explosions emerge in a realm of lo-fi hip-hop with upbeat, poppy moments while the coinciding video turns heads with a steamy, latex-laden Barthel symbolizing the demons that dominate GLU's thoughts as he raps satirically through a leather ball gag. GLU's genesis was rooted in honesty, creativity, and the desire not just to exist but to exist deeply, and with no major concentration of genre aside from melding them, he unravels ribbons of rhyme and musicianship that are introspective and engaging. Self-produced and mastered by Dale Becker (Doja Cat, Chris Brown, Khalid), the MY DEMONS EP as a whole is a look into the late nights, solitude, and the existential crisis that come with surviving alone through a pandemic. Taking influence from Depeche Mode, Gorillaz, Twenty One Pilots, Mac Miller, the back and forth of the artist's soft soundscapes lead way to catchy lyrics touching on relatable subjects of struggle, loss, addiction and trauma. Previous single "Night Shift," highlights the impending doom we feel, generated by the current state of our world. "For me, 'MY DEMONS' was about being on my own terms; having my own momentum," said Shuman. "This is something that is different because I do come from punk rock, but I'm doing this… so it's not going to sound like your typical DJ or Hip-Hop producer. I want it to feel fresh, and that's the most exciting thing for me." MY DEMONS Track Listing: MY DEMONS ft. Interview with Daniel Leggs

We had the pleasure of interviewing Daniel Leggs over Zoom video! Rising alt-pop singer-songwriter-producer Daniel Leggs is celebrating his signing to Overall Recordings/Atlantic Records with today's release of his long-awaited debut EP, runaway, available now at all DSPs and streaming services. The final installment in a remarkable series of new releases unveiled on the 22nd of each month, runaway collects warm-hearted tracks like the previously unheard "parasite" alongside such fan favorites as "sausalito," "gatsby," "stay in my dreams," "ticket home" (co-written with 6x RIAA platinum-certified singer-songwriter Garrett Nash), and the viral favorite, "crutches". "This project is super honest," says Daniel Leggs. "For me, the music is about relating to people and then entertaining them with the quirky storybook we've created. It's like Harold and the Purple Crayon…but if it wasn't a kid's book. One thing I love about 'parasite,' 'crutches,' and the EP as a whole is that there are wild ups and downs. Sometimes the music feels sad, but then there's always this general feeling of hope. That's just how being young and figuring things out is. Sometimes things aren't so hot, and sometimes you feel like the world is yours. Hope everyone enjoys listening through!" In a world of emotional uncertainty, music is the only thing Daniel Leggs is sure of. Growing up as a concert-trained pianist too shy to express himself in daily life beyond gratitude and kindness, the 23-year-old tunesmith has found himself via a series of intimate, ingenious pop ditties which expertly capture the ups, the downs, the heartbreak, and longing for something more of a gifted young artist making his way in 21st Century New York City. Written, recorded, mixed, and mastered in a central Rhode Island basement studio, Leggs' budgeted studio model produces a distinctive sound that combines relatable lyrics with experimental imperfections to manifest something beautiful and all his own. Leggs kicked off 2023 with his most tender track to date, "last one standing," joined by an official live performance video – filmed in Daniel's kitchen. Now, with the arrival of his Overall/Atlantic debut EP, Daniel Leggs is telling the runaway story of his daydreams, one perfect pop song at a time. We want to hear from you!
