Interview with Flipturn

We had the pleasure of interviewing Flipturn over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 "Like the beginning of most humble rock stories, flipturn came to be in a garage in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The place where four seemingly inevitable friends congregated to kill the extra hours of the high school years, produced a sound that flirts with the countless tangents that build up modern indie music. Although their genesis shares similarities to that of many other bands, their sound, raw magnetism and steep trajectory are unmatched by anyone among their ranks. The flipturn roll call is Dillon Basse (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Tristan Duncan (lead guitar), Madeline Jarman (bass), and Adrian Walker (drums). Fans are drawn to the rarity of both strong female and male presences within the band that foster a sense of inclusion in the musical experience. The fever dream energy of their live shows has positioned flipturn as a metaphorical musical sun, holding fans in a trancelike orbit. There is nothing held back while the band is performing. Basse's vocals possess the innate ability to simultaneously shake the physical walls of a room and shake loose latent emotions within a listener. The chemistry and talent shared between the bandmates allows for a total release of inhibitions. Their songs are written in an artfully understandable way that makes flipturn the storytellers for a generation of people who were never told what to do next. In their short yet accomplished history, the band has collected an impressive number of streams, built an online community of supporters, and shared the stage with other acts who are reshaping the industry. flipturn has recently spent a significant amount of time touring and plan to travel even more in the coming months. The music they are in the process of releasing holds a sincerity and transparency unlike anything that has come before." Recent Press https://blog.wknc.org/post/610871769285509120/ep-review-something-you-needed-by-flipturn https://pleasantmag.com/post/611126041712492544/flipturn-is-something-you-needed Flipturn Links Instagram https://www.instagram.com/flipturnband/ Twitter https://twitter.com/flipturnband Facebook https://www.facebook.com/flipturnband Spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/7FKTg75ADVMZgY3P9ZMRtH?si=ttE3JMhnQqSAzxtNBmmqqQ Website https://flipturn.band/ We want to hear from you! Interview with Elephant Heart

We had the pleasure of interviewing Elephant Heart over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 ELEPHANT HEART RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM SEASONS ON CHUMBA MUSIC VIA BMG NEW VIDEO FOR THE SONG "AFRICA" JACK BACK REMIX OUT "The duo is on a mission to spread love and positivity through genre-bending music and world sounds" – Billboard Musical collective Elephant Heart releases their debut album today via their independent imprint, Chumba Music/BMG. Stream or purchase here: https://elephantheart.ffm.to/seasons Elephant Heart is the creation of married couple, Jason and Victoria Evigan. The two express their music and its message through various collaborations. "Elephant Heart evolved after goofing off in our home studio on our 5-year wedding anniversary. We never would have guessed after being together almost 12-years with different careers, that we would end up making music together. In hindsight, it made sense because music has always been the passionate heartbeat of our relationship. It was amazing to find Victoria had a dormant voice waiting to be unleashed. Making this music as husband and wife has been healing for us as a couple and for us as individuals. There's nothing more special than to make music with the love of your life." – said Jason The two turn a mixture of art forms and life experiences into unique musical creations as they combine the studio prowess of Jason, an award-winning singer/songwriter, and producer who worked with Madonna, RÜFÜS DU SOL, ZHU and Ellie Goulding, and vocalist, songwriter, and lyricist Victoria, who stuns with her intimate emotions and wild heart. Jason explains, "We've realized, like our Gemini personalities, there are a few different sides to our sound. One-minute Victoria is rapping and the next minute, she's belting soulful melodies. I feel like we're making warrior music—music for the spirit. The album is a journey. It's called Seasons because it represents our relationship and the seasons we have been through. When asked about the song's meaning, Jason explains, "Africa is a warrior cry from the spirit, reminding ourselves of our true nature in times we feel like we've lost direction of our path and purpose. In life, it is an unavoidable fact that we will all face demons, trauma, and dark forces that will try and dim our light. The song is a mantra, reminding us we have the ability to be victorious over these demons, and generational curses — we just need to be in touch with the light we carry and call on it." Showcasing their unique and genre-inclusive approach. Seasons includes six new unreleased songs, including "Africa" and the recently released "Love is the Weapon," their 2019 song releases, "The Thunder," "The Digital," and "Lenguas". As well as 2018 song releases, "HIYA" and "WARFARE." "We recorded sounds from all around the world and infused it into our music. We're so deeply touched by other cultures and love connecting on our travels through music. Our album is a melting pot of sounds and messages" says Jason. At its core, Elephant Heart's desire is to drive social change and positivity in the world, leveraging the power of their creative outputs to spread a message of empowerment through love and social impact projects. The two also founded Picture This, a non-profit created to cultivate unique friendships between children in America with those across the globe through hand-written letters and artistic expression. Interview with Finn Matthews

We had the pleasure of interviewing Finn Matthews over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 His new music video "Into The Open" is one to check out! https://youtu.be/J-XNHSMZTWM "Finn's career started when he found a mentor in Elijah Blake, who has penned hits for artists like Rihanna, Usher and Rick Ross. Blake was floored by Finn's delicate, yet soulful falsetto voice. At 16, Finn moved from New Jersey to Los Angeles to pursue music fulltime. Soon after, he received a development deal w/ Live Nation and released his first single and music video for the song "Julia" which hit over 1.2 million views on Youtube. But Finn wasn't content to just stay in his lane as a pop vocalist. He honed his skills as a guitarist, writer and producer. And as Finn matured, so did his sound. Now, with his debut album, Sunny Daze, which he wrote and produced), Finn presents a blend ofvibey, bedroom pop rooted in R&B and marked by his signature vocal. Comparisons like Daniel Caesar or Jon Bellion come to mind. But, like his voice, this is a unique sound that is entirely Finn." We want to hear from you! Interview with Chappell Roan

Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Chappell Roan over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 Chappell Roan recently released her new song & video for Pink Pony Club! WATCH HERE (https://youtu.be/GR3Liudev18) along with the acoustic version HERE (https://youtu.be/P5LANOVjUBc) "In 2018, Chappell Roan packed everything she owned into the back of her car and drove three days straight from her tiny Missouri hometown, to make L.A. her home. Not long after landing in her new city, Chappell spent an outrageously fun night out at iconic gay bar The Abbey—an experience that soon altered her entire trajectory as an artist. "All of a sudden I realized I could truly be any way I wanted to be, and no one would bat an eye," says Chappell. "It was so different from home, where I always had such a hard time being myself and felt like I'd be judged for being different or being creative. I just felt overwhelmed with complete love and acceptance, and from then on I started writing songs as the real me." With more new music coming very soon, Chappell Roan's transformation into a glittery pop artist is well underway." We want to hear from you! Interview with OUTSIDER

We had the pleasure of interviewing Seán Ó Corcoráin of OUTSIDER over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 "Inspired by the likes of Joy Division, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Bruce Springsteen, OUTSIDER's music works on three levels. The immediacy of the music and its emotional pull have the power to capture people's attention, but there's a real depth to discover in the multi-layered lyrics too. His poetic disposition encompasses religious references, philosophical concepts and evocative imagery. OUTSIDER takes his name from Colin Wilson's 1956 book 'The Outsider', which examines the psyche of great artists and their place in society. It's an apt moniker. Simultaneously straddling post-punk/alt-rock roots with a mainstream immediacy sets him apart from the pack, and operating outside of the realm of the local Dublin music scene further highlights his individuality. Proud to be working class, he continues to support his music by working a regular job. OUTSIDER - real name Seán Ó Corcoráin - was recently diagnosed with CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder), but he found that music could help his struggles with mental health. As he explains, "Finding bands that you could connect with allows you to share that fear of isolation. Music can be a solitary past-time and I found it was very soothing even in some of the lowest times in my life. I'm always trying to pay that back with my own music. People write to me and say, 'I'm going through hell at the moment, but your songs have had a huge impact on me.' Music is one of the world's great stimulants, but it's curative too." Corcoran started working under the OUTSIDER name after a previous relationship and band project simultaneously ended. His debut track 'Late Night Radio' represented the first time he'd recorded a lead vocal, and it went on to feature in the Netflix Original Series 'Shadowhunters'. That growing attention was amplified with the release of 'Míol Mór Mara' and his self-titled debut EP. It provided OUTSIDER form an under the radar viral hit with 1.5 million streams after its profile exploded following its inclusion in FIFA 2018 (the first time the Irish language has featured in mainstream gaming) and Match of the Day. OUTSIDER builds on that initial momentum with the release of 'Brotherhood' and 'Ghost As King of the Knives', two songs which were both inspired by his experiences with CPTSD. 'Brotherhood' explores the impact of friendships upon men's mental health: such connections are vital, but machismo and drinking culture aren't conducive to addressing the issues at hand. Meanwhile, 'Ghost…' expands on his sonic palette with echoes of The Replacements and The Waterboys framed in a contemporary context. Ultimately he wants to fill stadiums, and his music possesses all of the traits to make that dream a reality. Expect to see this OUTSIDER forge positive connections the world over in the near future." We want to hear from you! Interview with 2nd Generation Wu

We had the pleasure of interviewing iNTeLL of 2nd Generation Wu over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 "As expected, iNTeLL and PXWER waste little time in showing their lyrical prowess as they hit the track with back to back verbal darts. It's obvious these two don't play when it comes to the bars especially if you're on the same track with Meth who closes up the cut nicely with his signature slick delivery." – Earmilk "Led by the core of iNTeLL (son of U-God) and PXWER (son of Method Man) 2nd Generation WU has split off the Wu-Tang family tree and created a new branch all of their own." – File Under Hip Hop "Wu-Tang Clan truly is forever. Especially when the children of Wu come together to carry on their incredible legacy.... With a 90's style Hip Hop foundation and a fresh spin on Wu-Tang references and lyrics, the group has proven they are not a carbon copy of what has come before them. Interview with Paper Jackets

We had the pleasure of interviewing Paper Jackets over Zoom video! Please share while we are #togetherathome 🏠 "PAPER JACKETS is a band that exists in the in-between." "The Los Angeles-based sextet – vocalist James Mason, keyboardist Emily Dickinson, guitarist Jonny Vesely, bassist Miles Franco, backing vocalist Aimee Proal and drummer David Allen play a sleek, souped-up style of synth-pop that equally takes its cues from the current crop of genre peers like Walk The Moon, Smallpools, CHVRCHES and Cherry Pools, but also legendary acts like The Ronettes and The Beach Boys. The band's EP, DON'T LOSE YOUR HEAD, recently re-released by Selma Records with a few re-imagined tracks, swirl these decades-spanning influences and an overall indie aesthetic to create a blend of pop and rock that's all at once topical and timeless. Mason came to LA via Austin in 2016, collaborating with producer Ethan Kaufmann (Avril Lavigne, Driver Friendly) and building Paper Jackets from the ground up with the help of friends like Dickinson. Along the way, the singer and his bandmates leaned on their years of experience as musicians and songwriters to give their then-new project an air of confidence and swagger that oozes into the songs on Don't Lose Your Head and elevates Paper Jackets beyond their years. "We felt like we had such freedom," Mason says of the process of making Don't Lose Your Head, which features a new mix of hit single "Trigger" by Charlie Park (lovelytheband, Dreamers). It felt like getting your parents' credit card number for the first time. We were able to explore all these different influences and impulses and get our hands dirty with a bunch of different sounds. Once we hit on 'Trigger' and 'Girl,' we knew we were headed in the right direction." True to his words, the two singles bubble with synth-and-drum-machine energy cut by soaring, effortless melodies, while the EP-closing "1985" strips things back considerably to put its raw emotion on full display. It's a musical dichotomy that truly exhibits the band's versatility – capable of creating club-ready anthems as well as deeply resonant material. Much like the band's sound itself, Don't Lose Your Head is all about balance. It finds the members of Paper Jackets squarely at the fulcrum of adulthood, stacking youthful impulses alongside increased responsibility – and all the messiness and, yes, consequences, that come when the equilibrium between the two stages of life swings too far in one direction. It's a set of songs that's as much a night out as the morning after, picking up the pieces after letting loose." "There's a desire to live your life to its fullest and fly by the seat of your pants," Mason says. "I want to enjoy my life and seize it all, but there's a pull of reality that snaps you back and says, 'This is just not sustainable or stable behavior.' [Laughs.] I'm learning every day how to deal with that – and how to push the limits and see how far I can take it. There are times I want to surrender, but there are other times I'm willing to live with the pain the next day. It can be frustrating to deal with both sides and the responsibility, but that balance is what ultimately makes life fun." We want to hear from you!
