5-MINUTE FRIDAY: Finding Calm In a Hurricane
Definitely didn't expect to get caught in the remnants of Hurricane Ida over here in New York on Wednesday, but alas, I did. Telling that story on the show today, and offering up a beautiful silver lining that came from the chaos.

#HURDLEMOMENT: How to Own Your Morning Routine To Unlock Your Big Potential
So excited to welcome Liz Plosser back to the show! Liz is a dear friend of mine, the Editor-in-Chief of Women's Health, and the new author of Own Your Morning: Reset Your A.M. Routine To Unlock Your Potential. In honor of the book's release on September 7, Liz filled me in on a slew of expert-backed tips and tricks she learned reporting the title.
So often, I'm getting messages asking me about my morning routine. And although there are science-backed benefits of getting a sweat in first thing in the day, Liz reiterates that what's most important is that your first waking hours revolve around what's important to you — and more specifically, your values. We also chat about the importance of a stellar nighttime routine for a better a.m., and dissect how light, nutrition, and mindfulness can make a big impact on the day. So many laughs together — IRL, too! Thanks, Liz, for being my first official IN-STUDIO guest!

174. Devon Still, Former NFL Player & Advocate for Childhood Cancer Awareness
Wow. I probably say that word at least 15 times in today's episode with Devon Still, former NFL player, author, speaker, and advocate for childhood cancer awareness. In 2014, Devon's world was turned upside down when his then 4-year-old daughter Leah was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2014 and given a 50-50 chance to survive. In today's episode, he talks me through all of it — from feeling powerless at her bedside to how he learned to embrace vulnerability. A huge thank you to United Therapeutics for setting up this conversation, as Devon recently partnered with them on a new "Braving NeuroBLASToma" campaign.

#HURDLEMOMENT: An OBGYN Answers Your Feminine Wellness Questions
VAGINA VAGINA VAGINA. There, now you're a little more used to hearing that (via your own voice inside your head, anyway). Today on the show, I'm catering to the ladies with an episode all about feminine wellness with Dr. Jackie, a board-certified OBGYN from Atlanta. Let's face it: Maintaining your vaginal health and feminine wellness is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. We're getting into all of the nitty gritty, answering questions like:
Is it normal to have irregular periods when training?
What are some irregularities that should have us scheduling a doctor visit?
What is considered normal color and amount of discharge?
Is there a proper way to cleanse 'down there'?
Underwear: Are there certain fabrics/styles that we should look for or avoid?

172. James Lawrence, Endurance Athlete Known As 'The Iron Cowboy'
Father-of-five James Lawrence made headlines earlier this summer by doing something he called the Conquer 100, which involved him completing 101 Ironman distance triathlons (2.4 mile/3.9km swim, 112 mile/180.2km bike, 26.2 mile/42km run) in 101 consecutive days — raising money for a local charity, Operation Underground Railroad. This wasn't the first time he did something this intense. The Utah native's been breaking World Records for years now. Back in 2015, he completed 50 triathlons in 50 days — in 50 different states (all while averaging less than 5 hours of sleep per night). However, back in 2008, life was a completely different story. In 2008, his family lost everything in the recession including their house, and to make ends meet the seven of them moved into a small one-bedroom apartment. He talks to me about how sport helped him overcome this devastation, how he preps for these challenges today, what his team looks like, how he recovers, and so much more. There’s no doubting that the through-line here is that with determination and grit, anything is possible.
