253. Steph Catudal, Author
Eighty-four days. That's how long Steph Catudal's husband Tommy Rivs was in a medically-induced coma during his battle with lung cancer. Today, she's on the show reflecting on that and more — coinciding with the publication day for her new memoir, Everything All At Once.
In today’s episode, Steph talks about what it was like when Rivs became ill and was put into coma at the height of the pandemic, and what happened as a result of that. She also brings us to her childhood, talking about the struggles of losing her father to cancer as well as navigating her relationship with faith. Her words are truly remarkable. I started following Steph like many as Rivs story made headlines back in 2020, and I’ve always been so drawn to both her writing and her strength. I ask Steph about how she’s managed the influx of attention, what it was like to mother her three girls when she felt at her lowest point, as well as how she takes care of her, and her feelings on hope when life feels grim. For those unfamiliar with Rivs' story — he is now 2+ years into remission; something truly miraculous after the most hard-fought battle.

#HURDLEMOMENT: How To Make Friends As An Adult With Kristina Rodulfo
This is probably one of the most popular topics I get DMs and emails about. I totally get it, because making friends as you get older is tough stuff! I'm calling in my dear friend Kristina Rodulfo to chat about this: She's an editor, host, and beauty expert (and your new BFF!). We rap about tips for making friends and best-practice strategies that have worked for both of us. We also talk about the importance of not having surface-level relationships, and how to know when you should walk away from a budding friendship that may not be serving you. Plus: Things to remember about your friends who ~may~ be in relationships, and how to navigate being friend dumped.

252. Jaycee Gossett, VP Of Training & Development At The Class
Jaycee Gossett has a special way of speaking to your soul. I've experienced it first hand at The Class, and I'm so happy to be able to bring this conversation with her to the show. For episode 252, Jaycee shares her journey to a career in fitness — explaining what The Class is and sharing her first impressions of the workout created by Taryn Toomey (peep her episode, here). She also gets vulnerable about her experiences navigating fertility struggles, how she's handling her move to Los Angeles and opening The Class' new west coast studio, and the way that she shows up when the hurdles feel frequent and hope feels lost.

5-MINUTE FRIDAY: A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships

#HURDLEMOMENT: How To Become a Morning Person
Mornings are pretty polarizing, right? Either you love them and fully embrace the phrase “the early bird gets the worm,” or you’re more of a snooze button enthusiast. If you’re the latter, you may want to reconsider your daily kickoff, and here’s why: Research shows that morning people are more proactive, happier, and more consistent with their workout routines. In today’s episode, I’m answering the most popular question I see in my DMs: How do I become a morning person, too? Good news! This 5:32 a.m. alarm-setter has got the hacks you need to become a successful earlier riser. Oh, and FYI future morning people: you’re going to need a fresh notebook and some willpower (a stellar sweat-friendly playlist won’t hurt, either).

251. Yuma Haidara, Navy Veteran & Commercial Truck Driver
The moment that I met Yuma Haidara through the team at Oofos in preparation for our Boston Marathon event, I knew I needed to sit down with her for the show. For episode 251, she talks to me about enlisting in the navy and what it was like to see combat, plus how that experience impacts her to this day. She talks openly about her experience with Home Base, a national nonprofit dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for Veterans of all era, and the struggle of losing some of her closest friends to suicide. She also talks about how she stumbled into a career of commercial truck driving, and how that was actually the influence for her to start taking care of herself through journaling, therapy, and running. Yuma is an Oofos ambassador, and to thank them for connecting us, I worked with the team to round up some of my favorite picks here at this link.
