Our guest today is Dr. Joel Parker. Joel is an astrophysicist, planetary scientist, and a Director at the Southwest Research Institute. He is the Deputy Principal Investigator for the Alice ultraviolet spectrograph instrument on the Rosetta mission, a co-investigator on the New Horizons mission to Pluto, and has worked at NASA's Goddard Spaceflight Center studying hot, massive stars in neighboring galaxies.

Our guest today is Mike Massimino. Mike is a former NASA astronaut, a New York Times best-selling author, and a professor of mechanical engineering at Columbia University. Mike is the veteran of two space flights, the fourth and fifth Hubble Space Telescope servicing missions in 2002 and 2009. He has a team record for the number of hours spacewalking in a single space shuttle mission, and he was also the first person to tweet from space. During his NASA career he received two NASA Space Flight Medals, the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, the American Astronautical Society’s Flight Achievement Award, and the Star of Italian Solidarity. His two books, Spaceman: An Astronaut’s Unlikely Journey to Unlock the Secrets of the Universe and Moonshot: A NASA Astronaut’s Guide to Achieving the Impossible are NYTimes best sellers. A couple of fun facts. The street that Mike grew up on in Franklin Square, Long Island was renamed “Mike Massimino Street.” And He played himself multiple times in the role of Howard's fellow on the The Big Bang Theory television series.

In 2015, Octave co-founded Spade Agency, a design firm aspiring to find ideal forms that would allow us to really live in Space, not just survive. Their first client was the Champagne company G.H Mumm. in September of 2018 After three years of research including several Zero-G flights, Octave and his team unveiled their first creation, Mumm Grand Cordon Stellar, a bottle of Champagne for Space, set to be served on privately-owned space exploration company Axiom Space. The project was awarded several design prizes and is currently under further development with French Space agency CNES. Octave is a permanent member of the Space Habitat Technical Committee at the International Astronautical Federation.

Lindy is a planetary scientist, the Principal Investigator of the NASA Psyche mission, and Arizona State University Vice President of the Interplanetary Initiative. Her research concerns the formation and evolution of rocky planets. She has led four field expeditions in central Siberia. The Asteroid (8252) Elkins-Tanton is named for her, as is the mineral elkinstantonite. In 2020, she received the Arthur L. Day Prize and in 2010 the Lowell Thomas award from the Explorers Club.

Prior to working in tech, Mike served in the U.S. government for over a decade. He was a Case Officer in the Central Intelligence Agency and has held positions in the Department of Defense and Department of State, as well as teaching at the FBI Academy.­­

Dr. Alleyne is the Founder and CEO of Arusha Space, a global space solutions and consulting firm that uses space to enable sustainable and socioeconomic development. Prior to Arusha, she had a 28-year career advancing the areas of aerospace and space technology development at NASA. Camille was a leading architect for several of NASA’s commercialization strategies, enabling billions of dollars in space economies in low earth orbit and on the moon and she is the first African American to lead a major human space flight program at NASA.

Jose is the CTO and Co-Founder of AstroForge, with nearly a decade of aerospace experience at SpaceX and NASA. He was the Deputy Chief Engineer for the first SpaceX Falcon 9 vehicle and Lead Avionics Integration Engineer and Mission Operator for the first four Dragon spacecraft. While at NASA, Jose designed, integrated, tested, and operated micro-lab satellites. Prior to AstroForge, he worked on autonomous vehicles at Volkswagen Electronics Research Laboratory and vehicle software at Bird Rides.
