She is currently starring in the FX series 'Kindred' playing a new character named Olivia from Octavia E. Butler's novel of the same name. Ward was also honored the following year at the BAFTA’s where he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe: Lover’s Rock. 329: Actor and Author Kirby Howell-Baptiste

This week we welcome actor and author Kirby Howell-Baptiste to the Black Girl Nerds podcast.  Most recently, she can be seen in “The Sandman” television, series and the film “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone,” both on Netflix. Upcoming, she stars in the heist series “Culprits” for Disney + launching early next year, and she is currently in production on “Sugar” for Apple +, opposite Colin Farrell. Audiences may also know Kirby from “Killing Eve”, “The Good Place”, “Hacks”, “Barry”, “Why Women Kill”, “Veronica Mars,” and Disney's “Cruella.” Beyond her memorable acting across film and television, her latest manifestation is publishing two children’s books, launching November 15th. 328: Comedian Ian Lara and Actor Christina Jackson

In this week's episode of the Black Girl Nerds podcast, we welcome Ian Lara and Christina Jackson. Segment 1: The premiere of Romantic Comedy, directed by beloved Comedian/Writer Aida Rodriguez, will be Ian’s second of 2022. His first, Growing Shame, premiered on Comedy Central Digital on February 10th as part of their series of half hours. He performed his 30-minute debut comedy special LA Meets NY for HBO Latino's esteemed Entre Nos franchise in 2020, which did so well the streamer gave him his upcoming hour.  His appearance on Comedy Central’s StandUP Featuring has garnered over 10 millions views collectively on social media, and he was a regular on the network’s hit series This Week at the Comedy Cellar. Host: Ryanne Segment 2:  Christina Jackson takes on the female lead role as Daisy Brown in Devotion, marking this her most significant screen outing. Devotion is the story of Jesse L.
