Pandemic and Play Therapy with Lynn McLean

Today's podcast episode is a lesson in creativity and preparedness. It's okay to slow down, get your bearings, and help your staff rise to the occasion before adding in more clients. Once the transition has happened, then you can move into marketing and visibility. This pandemic is allowing us to rethink everything we know about therapy, and recognize myths we had never challenged before.Lynn McLean, LCSW-S, RPT-S talks about her experience transitioning to tele-play therapy, and how children CAN be helped during this time.  Just like so many other things, we are seeing that healing play is possible virtually, and that by being forced to look at your practice in a new way, you may discover new things about your processes that will strengthen your business, too.

Innovation in Private Practice

Our hope for you is to create a private practice that provides stellar outcomes for clients and increases accessibility to good mental health care. It takes innovation and creativity as well as attunement to provide services that are uniquely your own. It is NECESSARY if we want to reduce stigma, help people heal and shift their family trees and change the story for not only themselves but for their generation and communities. It's something we try to mirror in our work. There are many ways to make an impact and with Business School Bootcamp we created a program that is uniquely our own, we track outcomes, we constantly seek to innovate and transform, not following standards of what has been done before but instead raising the standards - for what is means to do this work personally and for how this work impacts our clients.Every time we do what we know is right for us, there is usually some push back of "why would you do that? that seems so hard? wouldn't it be easier if....?"We want to see our students succeed and we want to help them in a way that is energizing for us, not depleting.Take a look at what you are creating in your practice. Are you clear that it is your highest and best? Does it contribute to the field in a positive way (especially if you have employees)? Does it give you a good income, energy and inspiration? Do you see change in your clients?A business plan the foundation, but it is so much more meaningful than a piece of paper. It is all the parts of a system coming together to serve others and sustain ourselves. It's an amazing thing we believe will change what mental health care looks like in our communities, how it reduces stigma and how it gives back to the ongoing transformation of this field.

Part 4: Pandemic, Private Practice, and Masterclass

Pandemic, Private Practice, and You Part 4:We planned this Masterclass series for therapists months ago with NO idea that there would be a pandemic in progress when it come up. We thought long and hard about whether we should cancel or reschedule. Ultimately, we realized that the thousands of therapists who registered needed support, direction, and community now more than ever. We extended Q & A time each week and answered people's questions as the situation changed. We are sharing this here to provide support to our audience. With just responding to people and pivoting to the needs of our community, we apologize that updating our podcast escaped our attention. But, we are proud to say that our blog has been viewed by almost 40,000 therapists in the past week. You can make a difference. People need you!Today we talked about remembering why you are here and that the world NEEDS you.  There is longevity in this work, and we are creating practices that can overcome whatever the future brings.  Follow the the guided meditation to re-center amidst a challenging time and listen to some of our answers about Bootcamp, the pandemic, and more.Business School Bootcamp for Therapists is NOW OPEN for enrollment.  Bootcampers are now eligible for up to 32 CE units for the material, through AspiraCE.com.  Click here to enroll today.Resources:Covid19 Scripts, Templates, Resources, and TrainingsHomework: Outcomes Script and Free CommunityVideo replay of all Masterclass trainings
